AB - The aim of these analyses is to identify both the components of the geographical position of Serbia, which determine the interregional connections in the Balkans and the causes, based on low level of integration, which are mainly the result of anthropogenic factors. As situated between the Western and Central Europe, the Southeastern Europe and the Middle East, Serbia constantly develops its connections to make itself a gateway for these regions. Due to unfavorable political situation in the last decade of the 20th century, Serbia could not plan corridors within the future enlarged European Union. Serbia is expected to do much in the following period on the political and economic plan. Its physical and geographical position and transportation corridor network are the starting points in the realization of the aim. According to the fact that the European commission started a series of projects on the integration of the European Union in the last decade of the 20th century, the collaboration among the countries of the region should develop on national, regional, and particularly local level in order to motivate the citizens to participate in processes and directly benefit from the developing policy and integrating processes.

AB - Settlements on the territory of the municipality of Irig were mostly formed under the influence of physical geographic elements. Except physical geographic elements, other elements, socio-geographic for example, which are used for the settlement formation are of secondary importance and they are not excluded. Springs with a lot of water along each brook valley were very important for their formation. Every settlement in the municipality either very small, the type of Prnjavor (Velika Remeta) or the larger one such as the seat of the municipality (Irig) is connected to the springs of an area of Fruška gora. This was of crucial importance for choosing a place for the original construction of the settlements on the territory of the municipality of Irig. The settlements of the municipality of Irig are: Irig, Vrdnik, Mala Remeta, Jazak, Rivica, Velika Remeta, Grgeteg, Krušedol - Prnjavor, Krušedol - Selo, Neredin, Šatrinci and Dobrodol. The position of settlements and their morphology considerably depend on natural conditions, and in the example of the municipality of Irig, they especially depend on the relief and hydro-geographic conditions.

AB - Program contents of regional geographical subjects at the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade, and the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Novi Sad, and also the program in these subjects at the Faculty of Natural Sciences was analyzed in detail. Based on the subject of research of Regional geography and on definition (concept) of region and basic (leading) method in this science, several recommendations are presented in this paper. Those recommendations consider the period of attending these programs (after completion of programs in physical and social geography). Furthermore, the number of classes per semester for regional-geographical subjects and the possibility for creating a unique curriculum for all faculties in Serbia, and also in Montenegro, at which future teachers of geography will be educated were recommended.
