Environmental education from the perspective of Serbian primary school geography teachers

AB  - The aim of the study is to analyse trends regarding the implementation of environmental education in teaching geography and to determine the existing correlation between the elements of the teaching process such as: the presence of environmental topics in teaching of geography, dominant teaching methods, levels of students knowledge, and teachers' attitudes towards the importance of environmental education. The results show that environmental content is not present enough in practical work of geography teachers in elementary schools, that environmental topics are usually considered only declaratively, and that in those circumstances the possibility for students to form any kind of conceptual and procedural knowledge has been reduced to minimum. Most commonly applied approach is the transmission approach, while the student-directed methods are used less often. More frequent application of active learning strategies in the classroom shows significant linear correlation with the intensity of study of environmental topics, as well as the implementation of an interdisciplinary approach that leads to formation of conceptual and procedural knowledge of students. Linear regression analysis also confirms that the positive attitudes of teachers towards the educational importance of environmental education do not have significant influence on the change in their usual way of teaching.

Quality of soil in the Republic of Serbia and the status of population's health

AB  - The composition and the sanitary condition of soil are factors of importance to public health, with direct and indirect influence over the pollution of surface and ground water, air and food products. To display the current state of soil contamination at the level of the Republic of Serbia in the present paper have been used the results of tests of soil quality within several projects of different scope, and available results of soil quality control within the urban-industrial environment of major cities, where the monitoring has been provided by local governments. The research results show that in Serbia there are sites with extreme pollution of soil, which can to a greater or lesser extent have negative health effects, so it is necessary to execute their remediation. Local soil contamination is present in areas of intense industrial activity, inadequate landfill sites, mines, and in places of different accidents.
AB  - Sastav i sanitarno stanje zemljišta predstavljaju faktore od značaja za zdravlje stanovništva, sa direktnim i indirektnim uticajem preko zagađenja površinskih i podzemnih voda, vazduha i životnih namirnica. Za prikaz postojećeg stanja zagađenosti zemljišta na nivou Republike Srbije u predmetnom radu korišćeni su rezultati ispitivanja kvaliteta zemljišta u okviru više projekata različitog obuhvata, kao i dostupni rezultati kontrole kvaliteta zemljišta u okviru urbano-industrijskih sredina većih gradova, gde je monitoring obezbeđen od strane lokalnih samouprava. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da na teritoriji Srbije postoje lokaliteti sa izrazitom zagađenošću zemljišta, koji u većoj ili manjoj meri mogu imati negativne zdravstvene efekte, te je potrebno izvršiti njihovu remedijaciju. Lokalno zagađenje zemljišta zastupljeno je u područjima intenzivne industrijske aktivnosti, neadekvatnih odlagališta otpada, rudnika, kao i na mestima različitih akcidenata.

AB  - Natural hazards have a number of adverse effects - they affect the life and health of humans and the survival of other living beings, destroy material goods and deteriorate socio-economic conditions of life. Without neglecting the impact of natural hazards lower intensity, in this paper emphasis is placed on natural hazards with the strongest effects for human health, that is to natural disasters. It covered the impact of various natural disasters on mortality and morbidity during and immediately after natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods and drought, which is to characterize on the Republic of Serbia.
AB  - Prirodne nepogode imaju brojne štetne efekte - utiču na život i zdravlje čoveka i na opstanak drugih živih bića, uništavaju materijalna dobra i pogoršavaju socioekonomske uslove života. Ne zanemarujući uticaj prirodnih nepogoda slabijeg intenziteta, u radu je stavljen akcenat na prirodne nepogode sa najjačim efektima po život i zdravlje ljudi, tj. na prirodne katastrofe. Obrađen je uticaj različitih prirodnih katastrofa na mortalitet i morbiditet za vreme i neposredno nakon prirodnih katastrofa, i to zemljotresa, poplava i suše, odnosno onih koji su karakteristični za prostor Srbije.

The evaluation of the state of the Sopot Municipality environment as a condition for sustainable development of the municipality area

AB  - The Sopot Municipality can be conditionally characterized as 'an ecological municipality' considering it is known for its preserved and quality environment, which is the result of the absence of greater sources of degradation and environmental pollution. The structure and usage of the Sopot municipality space was influenced by its specific position and historic development, the resources, the fact it is in the vicinity of Belgrade, as well as the processes taking places in the last few decades. Besides natural, anthropogenic factors substantially influenced the way of spatial development, often violating natural conditions and possibilities. In that sense, the current environmental condition analysis represents the important integral planning base for further spatial development of the Municipality. In this paper the environmental condition is shown according to single elements (air, water, soil), the attention is drawn to the problem of waste on the Sopot Municipality area, and in the end the valorization of the environment was performed from the aspect of pollution level.
AB  - Opština Sopot se uslovno može okarakterisati kao 'ekološka opština' s obzirom da se odlikuje očuvanom i kvalitetnom životnom sredinom, što je uglavnom posledica odsustva većih izvora degradacije i zagađenja životne sredine. Na strukturu i korišćenje prostora opštine Sopot uticao je njen specifičan položaj i istorijski razvoj, resursi, blizina Beograda, kao i procesi koji su se odvijali u proteklih nekoliko decenija. Pored prirodnih, na način prostornog razvoja su u znatnoj meri uticali i antropogeni faktori, često narušavajući prirodne uslove i mogućnosti. U tom smislu, analiza postojećeg stanja životne sredine predstavlja značajnu osnovu integralnog planiranja daljeg prostornog razvoja Opštine. U radu je dat prikaz stanja životne sredine po pojedinačnim elementima (vazduh, voda, zemljište), ukazano na problem otpada na teritoriji Opštine, i na kraju izvršena valorizacija životne sredine sa aspekta stepena zagađenja.

AB  - The paper aims to show the modified model for building an information system for vehicle tracking. The introductory part gives an overview of the need to introduce such a system. Although the system of monitoring is not new in modern IT practices, insisting on the integration of all known digital technologies, as well as the mathematical model of higher accuracy of the budget contributes to the improvement of the existing views of systems for vehicle tracking. The paper, further on, describes a prototype system. It was noted that a system that uses the search based on three or more sensors, can perform this by applying mobile technology or GPS satellite positioning. You can use these technologies separately, but their combination leads to mutual adjustments and to positioning of greater precision. The mathematical model is an essential detail because the work of the entire system is based on it. The program code, itself, uses this model. The GPS component of the system is programmed and integrated into one system. The program code shows that the entire system is built on object-oriented basis, i.e. the most modern tendencies of programming are being respected here.

AB  - This paper provides information about potential effects of natural ionizing radiation on general population health. Natural radionuclides are particularly stressed, as well as health effects of high and lower doses. Radio-ecological areals have been presented for Serbia, while radiation risk has been assessed for the population of Serbia according to census years.
AB  - U radu su prikazani potencijalni efekti prirodnog jonizujućeg zračenja na zdravlje stanovništva. Poseban akcenat stavljen je na prirodne radionuklide, kao i na zdravstvene efekte velikih i malih doza. U radu su izdvojeni radioekološki areali, i izvršena procena radijacionog rizika za stanovništvo Srbije prema popisnim godinama.

Analysis of the environmental state in the municipality Grocka as a basis of integrated planning protection

AB  - The structure and use of space of city municipality of Grocka was influenced by its specific position and resources, as well as by development processes that have taken place in recent decades. Apart from the natural, the way of spatial development was significantly influenced by anthropogenic factors, often disturbing the natural conditions and opportunities. In that sense, the analysis of existing environmental state is an important basis of integrated planning of future spatial development of the municipality. Several different sources of environmental pollution are identified in the municipality of Grocka, some of which have 'significant' impacts on closer and wider environment. This paper presents the state of environment in individual elements (air, water and soil), problems of noise, waste and the risk of accidents in the municipality, and finally made valorization of the environment from the pollution level.
AB  - Na strukturu i korišćenje prostora gradske opštine Grocka uticao je njen specifičan položaj i resursi, kao i razvojni procesi koji su se odvijali u proteklih nekoliko decenija. Pored prirodnih, na način prostornog razvoja su u znatnoj meri uticali i antropogeni faktori, često narušavajući prirodne uslove i mogućnosti. U tom smislu, analiza postojećeg stanja životne sredine predstavlja značajnu osnovu integralnog planiranja daljeg prostornog razvoja Opštine. Na teritoriji opštine Grocka identifikovano je više različitih izvora zagađenja životne sredine, od kojih neki imaju 'značajnije' uticaje na neposredno, ali i šire, okruženje. U radu je dat prikaz stanja životne sredine po pojedinačnim elementima (vazduh, voda, zemljište), ukazano na problem buke, otpada i rizika od udesa na teritoriji Opštine, i na kraju izvršena valorizacija životne sredine sa aspekta stepena zagađenja.
