Tourism functioning as a sustainable rural development in Novi Pazar

Abstract

In poorly developed parts of Serbia, natural and anthropogenic toutistic values are the biggest contributors to the sustainable rural developement. This study was conducted using poll research by a method of choosing respondents where by analysing economical, social, and cultural aspects and aspects of the environment we look at the current situation, with a goal to clearly define all the strong and weak points of rural settlements situated in Novi Pazar. We got the indicator value as a result of average values of related questions, and the sustainable rural development index (SRDI) is represented by the average value of all of those indicators. The results of the SRDI equation will help us in the process of planning the development of rural settlements, with a goal of removing all the weak points and threats, improving the usage of strong points and opportunities, with the help of tourism based on sustainable development.
