This chapter elaborates policies, processes and phenomena shaping the present housing stock and residential segregation in Belgrade, within historically defined political, economic and institutional contexts. The aim is to reveal drivers, mechanisms, and patterns of micro-segregation in Dorćol, Belgrade's central neighbourhood with housing stock differentiated in quality, age and market attractiveness. Data for this research were collected from official census, registry of purchased housing units, and semi-structured in-depth interviews with experts from real estate agencies, and local population. Besides providing insights in contemporary segregation and market differentiation of the housing stock in Dorćol, the chapter also lays the foundations for the forecasting of their future development trajectories.
