AB - The subjects of this study are hydrogeothermal potentials of Rogozna mountain (Serbia) and possibility of their use. Thermo-mineral springs at the mountain's foothill are the leftovers from an intensive volcanic activity during the Tertiary. The most famous and the most valuable ones are the springs in Novopazarska Spa, Banjska and in the village of Vuca, with a number of springs yet to be examined. The hydrogeothermal potential of these springs is significant, with the total thermal power of 4.6 MWt and the thermal energy of 145.4 TJ/year, but these could be greatly enlarged through the additional investigation in the interior of Rogozna. It is believed that the primary reservoir lies at the approximate depth of 2 km and that the water temperature is about 120 degrees C. In the area of Rogozna mountain there are a lot of thermomineral springs (TM) with outlet temperature between 30 and 54 degrees C. The main goal of this study is to determine the thermo-mineral capacity and energy potential in the area of three spas. This study allows the hypothesis that thermo-mineral springs in the area of Rogozna mountain have large potential. The researched area of Rogozna mountain is insufficiently investigated geo-space, which is rich in thermo-mineral springs. Thermal sources in Rogozna mountain produce heat power of 4.6MWt or 1.4% of heat power given by all the sources in Serbia. The waters of these springs are solely used for balneological and recreational purposes. Yet they could successfully be used in warming and cooling the space, for greenhouses in fruit, vegetable and flower production. In the end, all geospatial data with the help of GIS advanced techniques were digitized and visualized.

AB - There are about 240 geothermal occurrences with 60 commercial spas included in, which are spread throughout the territory of Serbia. The majority of springs and other surface manifestations are located along the southeastern edge of the country. Three spas Lukovska, Prolom and Kursumlijska are with the highest geothermal potential and balneology utilization. They are situated in the vicinity of Kursumlija, one of the largest municipalities in Serbia, but with poor economic development. Although the presence of these three spas and more than 23 thermal mineral springs with the temperature of water between 26.4 degrees and 68 degrees C reveal it among the great geothermal resources in Serbia, the extent and potential of these resources are poorly understood. The estimated capacity of geothermal energy in three spas and 20 springs is 620.36 (TJ/year) or 19.6 MWt. In spite of a vast quantity of this clean, renewable energy resource only a small percentage of it is used in balneology and extremely rarely for greenhouse heating. In Serbia the kind of energy mostly used belongs to dirty energy resources, such as timber, coal, oil, gas, natural gas, etc. The use of geothermal renewable energy for the heating of public institutions is highly recommendable and agrees with today's growing awareness of the environment protection and improvement of the quality of life. The additional use of it for heating in householders would reduce the import of natural gas and oil and would support the municipality and its inhabitants to escape from poverty.

AB - Reunion (French.: La Reunion, formerly: Ile Bourbon) is beside the Mauritius the largest and the youngest island on the Mascarene Plateau in the Indian Ocean. The island is of volcanic origin, formed through volcanic activity initiated by deeply settled "hot spot" inside the Earth's mantle. It was formed within the last 2,000,000 years from lava effusions whose volume is up to now nearly 75,000 km(3). Only 3% of its volume is emergent and the total height from the sea floor is 6,500 m. The island is about 40 km in width with about 800,000 inhabitants. The capital city is St Denis. The nature of the island is impressive: active volcano, mountains above 3,000 m in height and deep canyon, frequently exceeding 2,000 m in depth. Since 2010, about 40% of its area is announced a National park and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

AB - Corine Satellite Detection in combination with GIS may analyse and show the quantitive and qualitive features of a forest belt. As a result, it gives 100 m resolution satellite recordings and may even show horizontal forest dispersness. In order to avoid exceptions and recording overlapping with digitalization, what is considered is a 100 m resolution, an identical projection file called WGS 84, so that the Corine recording projection may be harmonised. This detection defines 44 types of earth layers, while a forest earth layer is defined by 12 types of soil. Concerning the specific nature of the territory observed, 5 types of soil are considered. What is observed in the soil structure are features of a territorial span with 3 types of forests, mixed forests, broad-leaved forests and coniferous forests, including two soil types containing sparsely vegetated areas or natural grasslands.

AB - The Devil's City is a unique geomorphological site well known regarding strangely sculptured stony pillars or soil (clayey) pyramids, abandoned mines and two rare hydrologic occurrences. The present landscape is partly inherited from the paleo-volcanic topography and shaped afterwards by erosion, particularly linear erosion. Soil pyramids owe their origin to the differential erosion of a more compact andesitic level on less cohesive pyroclastic material and disintegrate relatively quickly when they lose their protective "cap". The pyramids are located along the two gullies, Devil's and Hell's. In the latter, also known as "The young Devil's City" the erosion process is in the beginning. The results of combined petrological and geomorphological studies permitted us to reconstruct past geological processes and predict the future evolution of the Devil's City. Geographic information system (GIS) and digital topographic modeling are becoming powerful tools not only in geographic sciences but also in geomorphological and geological modeling.

AB - The monitoring of the territory of Prokuplje Municipality was done based on 1 : 25,000 topographic maps in three different time periods (1969, 1974, and 1984) and land cover map in 2012. Analogous topographic maps done in 1969, 1974, and 1984 were used, while in 2012 the land cover map obtained by using CORINE-like approach was used. Topographic maps are developed by aerial campaign, and today they are replaced by satellite images. Topographic maps were scanned, and raster form was transformed to vector data with Geo Media Professional 6.1 and Global Mapper software. The monitoring in the period of 1969-2012, on the area of 758300000 m(2), was performed, where some parameters were analyzed. In particular, the changes of natural resources, primarily forest lands, were observed as well as the type of land susceptible to primary erosion, including the level of urbanization and level of agricultural land. The obtained results clearly showed changes in forestation within the 43-year-long period, as well as changes in primary erosion and urbanization, while at the level of agricultural land, slight changes were found. The paper also involved transition of social factors from 1969 to 2012, expressed as a change between the earth and forest layer.

abstract = "The monitoring of the territory of Prokuplje Municipality was done based on 1 : 25,000 topographic maps in three different time periods (1969, 1974, and 1984) and land cover map in 2012. The paper also involved transition of social factors from 1969 to 2012, expressed as a change between the earth and forest layer.",

AB - The work displays the presumed laws of flooding waves which would occur if the 1976 situation when the great floods in Kosovo happened reoccurred again. On a 1:300000 multilayer map of Kosovo and Metohia, there are areas which would have been flooded in case of a maximum flooding wave, and what is also shown is the areas which were covered in water as the average was measured, including the areas used as projects of minimal flooding wave value. There is a layer showing the points with regular flood defense, including the places where protection needs to establish. The map includes the ratio of 1:300000, whilst the areas are calculated with the help of processing their dynamic static's, as well as using the formulae Gumbel Distribution and Weibull Formula. The data have been calculated with their maximum value, including the average and the minimum of flooding period embracing the time of 40 years.
