Spatial-temporal and trend analysis of traffic accidents in AP Vojvodina (North Serbia)

AB  - The objective of this study is to analyse the spatial-temporal patterns of traffic accidents using data from 2011 to 2020 for the AP Vojvodina. The spatial-temporal patterns of traffic accident hotspots were identified at the municipality level using the Getis–Ord Gi⁎ statistic in ArcGISPro software. Trends in traffic accidents were analysed using the Mann-Kendall (MK) statistic. A certain trend in the number of traffic accidents, fatalities, and injuries was detected in 15 out of 45 municipalities. In two municipalities, the trend in the number of traffic accidents is decreasing, while in seven, it is increasing. In three municipalities, a decreasing trend in the number of traffic fatalities was observed. A decreasing trend in traffic injuries was identi fied in five municipalities. Hotspot analysis on the number of traffic accidents and traffic injuries revealed hotspots in seven municipalities, while no hotspots were detected in the number of traffic fatalities. In the traffic casualties weighted number, persons in tractors, hotspots were identified in two municipalities. This research has the potential to enhance traffic safety by directing targeted safety measures towards identified hotspots. Such measures could ultimately lead to a reduction in traffic accidents, consequently curbing the number of both fatalities and injuries.

Changes in the social status of the population in the post-Yugoslav period and the impact on housing in Belgrade

AB  - In the post-socialist period, there were many changes in the post-Yugoslav region. The dissolution of the state and the civil war were just some of the most important events. The successor states went through the post-socialist transition at a different pace. The political and economic transition had a significant impact on the social status of the population. According to numerous international urban studies, there is a causal relationship between the social status of the population and the housing situation. Looking at the social status of the population in Belgrade, it is obvious that the social status decreases from the centre to the periphery. The housing situation in Belgrade is very heterogeneous. First, there is a historical centre filled with buildings from different eras: from the pre-World War II period, from the socialist period and from the post-socialist period. Secondly, there are socialist neighbourhoods that surround the historic core of the city. Finally, there are the neighbourhoods on the periphery, which are mostly informally built. The withdrawal of the state and the reintroduction of market mechanisms in the housing sector, drastic proportions of owner-occupied housing, the expansion of illegal construction activity, international isolation during the 1990s and the subsequent reconnection to the global economy, albeit with extremely weakened institutions, characterised post-socialist housing and urban development in Belgrade. Added to this was another wave of demographic pressure from the former Yugoslav republics and Kosovo. Through the lens of social status and housing situation, we observe the patterns of residential segregation in the post-socialist period. Due to the incomparability of statistical data from different periods, we use a combination of sources and research approaches. The first two decades of the post-socialist period were analysed at the level of census units, using data on the education of the population as a proxy for their social status.

AB  - Велики значај за одрживи рурални развој недовољно развијених простора Србије имају природне и антропогене туристичке вредности. У овој студији спроведено је анкетно истраживање методом одабира испитаника, а анализом економских, социјалних и културних аспеката и аспеката животне средине сагледава се тренутно стање, са циљем да се јасно дефинишу све јаке и слабе тачке руралних насеља на простору административне територије Новог Пазара. Вредност индикатора добијена је као резултат просечних вредности сродних питања, а Индекс одрживог руралног развоја (IORR) представљен је просечном вредношћу свих индикатора. Коначни резултат IORR је 0,94, што показује да простор има перспективу развоја одрживог туризма. Резултати истраживања могу се искористити за планирање могућности даљег развоја руралних насеља у истраживаном простору, с циљем да се слабе стране и претње минимизирају, а јаке стране и прилике максимизирају, и то захваљујући туризму заснованом на одрживом развоју.

AB  - The objective of this paper is to analyse the spatial-temporal pattern of traffic
accidents using ten years of data from 2011 to 2020 for the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, northern part of Serbia. The spatial pattern of traffic accident hot spots and their temporal evolution were identified on the municipality level of the study area using hot spot analysis (Getis–Ord Gi*) techniques within the GIS environment. Trends in the traffic accidents on the municipality level were analysed using Mann-Kendall statistic. In majority of municipalities there were no trend detected. In 15 out of 45 local administrative units some kind of trend in the number of traffic accidents, fatalities and injuries was detected. In only two municipalities, Bački Petrovac and Žabalj, trend in the number of traffic accidents is decreasing, while in seven is increasing, Bačka Palanka, Bačka Topola, Kanjiža, Kikinda, Mali Iđoš, Novi Kneževac and Vrbas. In only three municipalities decreasing trend in the number of traffic fatalities was detected, Bačka Topola, Novi Bečej and Titel. Also, five municipalities have decreasing trend in traffic injuries, Opovo, Sečanj, Vršac, Zrenjanin and Žabalj. Hot spot analysis on the number of traffic accidents and
traffic injuries detected hot spots in seven municipalities – Bački Petrovac, Beočin, Irig, Novi Sad, Sremski Karlovci, Temerin and Žabalj. In the hot spot analysis on the number of traffic fatalities, there were no hot spots detected. The hot spot analysis on the traffic casualties weighted number showed similar results to the hot spot analysis on the traffic accidents, with only difference regarding persons in tractors. In this category, hot spots were detected in two municipalities – Nova Crnja and Žabalj. This research holds potential to enhance traffic safety by directing targeted safety measures toward identified hot spots. Such measures could ultimately lead to a reduction in traffic accidents, consequently curbing the number of both fatalities and injuries.

Geographic Medical Overview of Noncommunicable Diseases (Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes) in the Territory of the AP Vojvodina (Northern Serbia)

AB  - The objective of this study was a geographic medical analysis of noncommunicable diseases (cardiovascular diseases from 2010 to 2020 and diabetes from 2010 to 2019) in the AP Vojvodina (northern Serbia) in order to identify the most and least burdened counties as well as to present trends in the mentioned diseases. The Mann-Kendall trend test, a cluster analysis, and Getis–Ord Gi* method for hot spot analysis were applied in this analysis. Regarding acute coronary syndrome and myocardial infarction, the North Backa County had a lower mortality rate although the number of newly reported cases was above average. The largest number of new cases of unstable angina pectoris was in the North Backa, North Banat, and Middle Banat Counties, while the West Backa County was identified as a county with a higher mortality rate. The cluster analysis showed that the number of death cases from diabetes in the Srem County is significantly higher than that in the other counties. Likewise, the West Backa County had a high number of new diabetes patients, but also a much lower mortality rate. Chronic noncommunicable diseases are predominant in newly diagnosed incidences and death cases in the AP Vojvodina. Studies of this kind promote public health and healthcare systems in the researched area and in the Republic of Serbia, as well as in other countries.

Agricultural Land Use Changes as a Driving Force of Soil Erosion in the Velika Morava River Basin, Serbia

AB  - The erosion potential model was applied to estimate the soil erosion status of rural settlements during the years 1971 and 2011. We used univariate and bivariate local Moran’s I indices to
detect and visualize the spatial clustering of settlements with respect to changes in erosion intensity
and agricultural land use, as well as their mutual spatial correlation. The study area was differentiated
into four statistically significant clusters using the calculated bivariate local Moran’s I indices. The
statistical analysis examined the two largest clusters, i.e., the high–high and low–low clusters, and
the results of the research indicate that the first four principal components explained 70.50% and
73.47% of the total variance, respectively. In the high–high cluster, the low rates of erosion reduction
(average Index Z = 98) in the most significant types of rural settlements were determined according to
demographic indicators (i.e., the higher population vitality and population density, the smaller share
of the old population and the lower average age of the population) and the large proportion of arable
land and Neogene sediments. In the low–low cluster, high erosion reduction rates were detected
(average index Z = 64). In this cluster, the more statistically significant influence of natural conditions
in combination with demographic–agrarian processes (i.e., the larger share of the old population,
the higher average age of the population, the lower vitality index and deagrarization) were decisive
factors in changing erosion intensity

Trend analysis and time series decomposition on hydrological profile Mojsinje in the Juza Morava River Basin

AB  - The Juzna Morava basin covers an area of 15,469 km2, its surface area and hydrological peculiarities require constant research. Imbalances of small, medium and large waters, torrential and erosive events are frequent. Average flows are statistically obtained values, which are most often used in practice when analyzing and preparing studies for further monitoring purposes The non-parametric Mann-Kendall test and Sen’s slope estimation were applied for trend observation, and the Pettit test was used to determine the breaking point in the analyzed time series. Data collected on the hydrological profile of Mojsinje (Juzna Morava) in the time interval 1961-2020 were processed The average annual flow (Qavg) is the most important hydrological indicator for observing trends in longer time series; mean monthly and seasonal flows were also analyzed. Based on the applied tests, it was determined that the water level on the hydrological profile decreases (0.70m3/s/year) without statistical significance, while the results obtained for May are the most significant (-2.10m3/s). The breaking point of the average discharges for most of the data series was recorded in the early 1980s (1982–1984), which coincides with the pluviometric regime in the basin. The analysis of seasonal hydrological events in the basin shows negative trends, most significant in winter. In order to determine wet and dry years, they have been classified according to water richness using the SDI index.

AB  - Climate elements are one of the most important factors for tourism development. This study aims to show the values of the tourist climate comfort index based on monthly values. For the needs of the research, the method of tourist climate comfort (TCCI) was used, on the example of the city of Novi Sad. Meteorological data for the climatological period of 30 years (1991–2020) from the meteorological station Rimski Šan?evi were analysed. Meteorological data that were observed, analysed, and statistically processed are: mean monthly air temperature, monthly temperature amplitude, mean monthly humidity, monthly insolation, and number of rainy days. The obtained results indicate that May and September are the most climatologically suitable months for tourist activities. Data on the number of tourist arrivals and their overnight stays in this area covers the period from 2004-2020. In this paper, a linear correlation between the value of climate comfort and the number of tourists has been made in order to provide local authorities and tourism organizations a more precise overview of the perception and valorisation of climate elements for the improvement of tourist potential.
AB  - Климатски елементи представљају један од најзначајнијих фактора за потребе развоја туризма. Ова студија има за циљ да прикаже вредности туристичког климатског индекса комфора на основу месечних вредности. За потребе истраживања коришћена је метода туристичког климатског комфора (TCCI), на примеру града Новог Сада. Анализирани су метеоролошки подаци за климатолошки период од 30 година (1991–2020), са метеоролошке станице Римски Шанчеви. Метеоролошки подаци који су сагледани, анализирани и статистички обрађени су: средња месечна температура ваздуха, месечна температурна амплитуда, средња месечна влажност ваздуха, месечна инсолација и број кишних дана. Добијени резултати указују да су месеци мај и септембар климатолошки најпогоднији за туристичке активности. AB  - Landslides and slope processes constitute one of the most frequent natural hazards in valleys near major rivers and mountainous regions. The surface layer, characterized by its relatively loose composition, is prone to sliding due to a combination of distinct natural and human-related factors (i.e. landslide causal factors (CF)). Along the right bank of the Danube River, specific sections of Smederevo city face considerable susceptibility to landslide activation, frequently resulting in substantial material losses and posing a risk to the local populace. This study entails on-site investigation, involving the mapping of recent landslides, coupled with database analysis through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and advanced remote sensing techniques. The initial analysis encompasses geological characteristics, morphometric conditions, hydrological and climatic factors, as well as anthropogenic influences such as land use, all contributing to soil instability. Employing GIS alongside the Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) technique, specifically the Best-Worst Method (BWM), yielded insights into landslide susceptibility within the territory of Smederevo city respectively. By visualizing areas highly prone to such disastrous occurrences, policymakers are empowered to enact more suitable environmental protection measures and institute sustainable management practices for agricultural parcels in this region.

AB  - Snow avalanches are one of the most frequent natural hazards in high mountain regions. In this study, a map of the susceptibility of the Šar Mountains to snow avalanches was determined. The study area is located in the southern part of Serbia, which has the Status of a National park. Geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing are used to analysis and cartographical presentation of nine the most important elements of natural conditions which have an influence on avalanche development. Then, by applying the best-worst method (BWM) for each of the criteria was given a weighting coefficient depending on its importance for the avalanche occurrence. A synthetic map of snow avalanche susceptibility was created by processing geospatial data in the GIS software. The obtained results show that high susceptibility covers 16.9% of the territory, while 10.7% of the total area is very highly susceptible. The final results may be useful to decision-makers, local self-governments, emergency management services, and mountaineering services to mitigate human and material losses from snow avalanches. This study is the first to use the BWM methodology for snow avalanche hazard analysis.

AB  - Identifikacija potencijalnih lokacija za izgradnju solarnih elektrana predstavlja važan korak u korišćenju održivih energetskih resursa. U ovoj studiji, primenom višekriterijumske analize odlučivanja (GIS-BVM) zasnovane na geografskim informacionim sistemima (GIS) i Best-Worst modelu (BWM) identifikovane su najpogodnije parcele za izgradnju solarnih elektrana. Istraživanje je podrazumevalo analizu i evaluaciju prirodnih i antropogenih uslova na teritoriji Jablaničkog okruga. Teritorija južne Srbije odlikuje se velikom količinom energije globalnog zračenja na horizontalnu površinu. Na osnovu hijerarhije prioriteta, svakom kriterijumu su dodeljeni različiti težinski koeficijenti. Model razmatra različite aspekte, kao što su: ekonomski, ekološki i tehnički. Rezultati su klasifikovani u pet klasa, u zavisnosti od pogodnosti teritorije za instalaciju fotonaponskih panela. Integracija GIS-a sa višekriterijumskim metodama predstavlja pouzdanu tehniku za sistematsko bavljenje geoprostornim podacima sa ciljem zaštite životne sredine i povećanja procenta korišćenja obnovljivih izvora energije.

AB  - The most significant effects of climate change are related to temperature and precipitation. Changes in precipitation and temperature patterns affect water resource capacity, agricultural activities, global biodiversity and emergency management. In this study, using two statistical models (Mann-Kendall and Pettit’s test), climate data for the territory of Belgrade in the time interval 1961-2020 were processed. Trends were analyzed: average annual temperatures, average monthly temperatures, annual and monthly precipitation amounts. The aim of the research is to determine the statistical significance of the increasing/decreasing temperature and precipitation trends on a monthly and annual basis. Based on the obtained results, it was determined that the changing point of the annual temperature is in 1997, while a statistically significant increasing trend was observed in all months except November. The increasing trend recorded by the precipitation amount is 0.345 mm/year, but without statistical significance. The most significant results corresponding to July and October.

AB  - The development of climate indices and their application can influence the preferences of tourists and the time frame for visiting the locality. This study develops a new Heritage Climate Index (HERCI) that finds its application in assessing climate comfort for visiting geoheritage and cultural heritage objects. The study analyzed the geoheritage site in Western Serbia (Stopića Cave) and the cultural heritage site in Eastern Serbia (Golubac Fortress). The index was developed to represent climatic comfort on a monthly basis and consisted of five climatic elements. The values of the HERCI index were obtained based on the multi-criteria decision-making model—the Best–Worst method (BWM). The results were classified into five classes, depending on the degree of conformity. After a comparative analysis of the index results for four localities and their attendance for the period 2012–2021 and 2019–2022, it was determined that there is a very high level of correlation (>0.9). This is the first study to use the BWM to develop and analyze a climate index. From the aspect of tourism policy, this study significantly contributes to tourism organizations and tourists in better understanding climate comfort and making decisions about the organization’s time frame and realization of the travel.

AB  - Tufa accumulations from the Gostilje River Basin and the Sopotnica River Basin in SW Serbia are represented by both active and fossil tufa precipitates. The aim of this study is to distinguish and describe different tufa facies and to determine the environmental conditions, based on stable isotope data. We also compare our analysis with other tufa deposits in Europe. Four facies are distinguished: moss tufa, algal tufa, stromatolitic laminated tufa, and phytoclastic tufa. The dominant constituent of all tufa samples is low Mg-calcite, whereas the presence of sylvite is noted in two samples from the Gostilje River Basin. The δ18O values range from −9.07‰ to −10.79‰ (mean value: −9.81‰), while the δ13C values range from −6.50‰ to −10.34‰ (mean values −9.01‰). The stable isotope values (δ13C and δ18O) indicate that these tufa deposits were precipitated from cold, ambient water supported by CO2 of an atmospheric origin. We emphasize that this is the first data about stable isotope analyses of tufa deposits from Serbia.

AB  - Zaštita životne sredine je jedna od najaktuelnijih tema današnjice. Prisutni negativni uticaji su rezultat nekontrolisane upotrebe prirodnih resursa, energije, ali i zanemarivanja zakona prirode. Prilagođavanje prirode čovekovim potrebama dovodi do promena koje često izazivaju složene posledice. Eksploatacija uglja na prostoru velikih rudarskih basena kao što je kolubarski ugljeni basen, dovodi do konflikta između rudarskih aktivnosti i postojeće sredine. Nastaju veliki ekološki, geomorfološki i hidrološki poremećaji koji utiču na funkcionisanje postojećih predela i ekosistema. U radu se analiziraju sve direktne i indirektne implikacije otkopavanja uglja na životnu sredinu i mogućnost njihovog smanjenja, odnosno dovođenja u prihvatljive okvire. Ispituju se i najbolja rešenja za povratak terena koji su ostali degradirani nakon eksploatacije uglja u prvobitno stanje ili uspostavljanje neke druge pogodne funkcije. Ekonomski aspekt kao jedan od važnih činilaca kvaliteta života, često je u konfliktu sa očuvanjem zdrave životne sredine. Najveći izazov je uspostaviti ravnotežu između neophodne degradacije i narušavanja kvaliteta životne sredine u cilju obezbeđenja ekonomskih uslova života ljudi, sa jedne strane, i očuvanja životne sredine sa svim resursima, sa druge strane.

AB  - Predmet istraživanja rada su teorijske osnove komunalne higijene. Analizirana je literatura i
definisanje komunalne higijene kao zasebne discipline. U domaćoj i inostranoj literaturi postoje i
razlike u definisanju pojedinih termina i teorijskih osnova. Moderna komunalna higijena je grana
medicinske discipline higijene, ali je tokom godina evoluirala što je i zadatak istraživanja, odnosno
geneza komunalne higijene. Cilj istraživanja je prikazati moderne tendencije i pravce razvoja
komunalne higijene, utvrditi pojedine segmente koje su u potpunosti zamenili novi okviri shvatanja
upravljanja komunalnom higijenom. Ubrzani razvoj komunalnih sistema ili sa druge strane
nerealizacije komunalnih sadržaja pozitivno ili negativno utiču na svakodnevni život. Pojedini
segmenti upravljanja doživeli su dinamične promene u prethodnim godinama, dok su pojedine
delatnosti pridodate komunalnim delatnostima što je zahtevalo izmenu i zakonskog okvira i
podzakonskih odredbi. Komunalna higijena zauzima značajno mesto u upravljanju savremenim
gradovima (urbani razvoj i zeleni gradovi) i rezultati ovog istraživanja treba da prikažu razvoj
komunalne higijene.

Prepoznavanje deforestacije digitalnom obradom slike

AB  - Deforestacija je proces krčenja ili uklanjanja šuma ili drveća sa određenog  područja. Često uključuje seču drveća kako bi se napravio prostor za poljoprivredu,  urbanizaciju ili komercijalne svrhe i ima značajne ekološke posledice, uključujući gubitak  biodiverziteta, narušavanje ekosistema i povećane emisije gasova sa efektom staklene bašte.  U radu će biti predstavljeno kako pomoću satelitskih snimaka prepoznati proces deforestacije  sa ciljem da se ukaže na važnost ovog problema. Python programski jezik danas predstavlja  osnovu mnogih automatizovanih kompjuterskih procesa. Kao alat, Python može da posluži  i za obradu slike u funkciji zaštite životne sredine. Ovakav pristup zahteva kvalitetne izvore  podataka i poznavanje materije u oblasti u okviru koje se koristi, kao i poznavanje osnova  programiranja. Biće korišćene različite Python biblioteke. Pomoću biblioteka moguće je istaći  konkretan prostor gde je povećana deforestacija, a ceo proces se zasniva na prepoznavanju  boje piksela na satelitskim snimcima. Snimci se učitavaju u program i kroz kod se proverava  da li su zadovoljeni postavljeni uslovi (npr. boja piksela, rezolucija i dr.). Koristeći svestranost  i prilagodljivost programskog jezika moguće je sprovesti efi kasno istraživanje uz maksimalnu  uštedu vremena i fokus na najvažnije elemente.

AB  - Kada je reč o veštačkoj inteligenciji (VI) i prostornom planiranju, Huawei Ascend  310 procesor može biti korišćen za ubrzavanje različitih aspekata procesa prostornog  planiranja. Korišćenjem VI algoritama, moguće je identifi kovati obrasce, prepoznati objekte,  izvršiti klasifi kaciju terena i analizirati prostorne karakteristike.Veštačka inteligencija može se  koristiti za predviđanje kretanja i modeliranje različitih elemenata u prostoru. Na primer, može  se primeniti za predviđanje saobraćajnog toka, kretanja ljudi ili identifi kaciju potencijalnih  lokacija za izgradnju infrastrukture. Ascend 310 procesor pruža mogućnost ubrzane obrade  ovih algoritama, čime se omogućava brže i efi kasnije planiranje. U prostornom planiranju,  VI može se koristiti za optimizaciju korišćenja resursa poput vode, energije ili zemljišta.  Huawei Ascend 310 procesor može ubrzati analizu i optimizaciju resursa, što omogućava  bolje upravljanje i racionalno korišćenje prostornih resursa. VI može biti korisna i za  simulaciju scenarija i vizualizaciju planiranih prostornih intervencija. Korišćenjem Ascend  310 procesora za ubrzavanje obrade simulacija i vizualizacija, može se dobiti realističan  prikaz predloženih planova, što pomaže donosiocima odluka da bolje razumeju i procene  implikacije planiranih intervencija. Huawei Ascend 310 je specijalizovani procesor (ASIC)  za ubrzanje veštačke inteligencije koji je razvijen od strane kompanije Huawei. ASCEND je  arhitektura za ubrzavanje VI koja koristi nisku snagu i visoku propusnost.

Prostorna organizacija i razvoj turizma u Toplici: železnička pruga kao potencijalni turistički itinerer

AB  - U periodu tranzicije došlo je do stagnacije i propadanja industrije kao dominantne privredne delatnosti u Topličkom okrugu. Početkom XXI veka, privredni razvoj okruga, strateški se oslanja na uslužne delatnosti, pre svega turizam, od kojeg se očekuje da multiplikativnim efektima podstakne razvoj ovog, nedovoljno razvijenog okruga, i omogući egzistenciju malobrojnom stanovništvu. Neravnomerni raspored turističkih lokaliteta, zona i aktivnosti na prostoru okruga, odnosno koncentracija istih na prostoru Kuršumlije, zahteva unapređenje prostorne organizacije turizma u cilju alokacije turista i uravnoteženog razvoja okruga. Hipoteza rada je da prostorna grupacija turističkih lokaliteta uz železničku prugu Prokuplje-Kuršumlija-Merdare i turistička atraktivnost pruge, omogućavaju formiranje kombinovanog turističkog itinerera i razvoj novih oblika turizma. Potencijalni Toplički turistički itinerer povezao bi zonu okružnog centra Prokuplja i brda Hisar sa turističkom zonom Radan-Kosanica-Đavolja varoš, što bi omogućilo celovit obilazak okruga. U cilju potvrđivanja hipoteze, u radu su opisane i prikazane sve turističke vrednosti železničke pruge i turističkih punktova (lokaliteta) u njenoj zoni. Prostornom analizom ukazano je na stepen koncentracije/grupacije turističkih punktova i zona u neposrednoj zoni pruge, što omogućava njihovo kombinovanje, povezivanje i formiranje turističkog itinerera. Kako je danas prostorna organizacija turizma značajan segment ukupnog privrednog razvoja, predložen je koncept prostorne organizacije turizma, zasnovan na formiranom turističkom itinereru. Ovako koncipirana prostorna organizacija turizma, doprinela bi očuvanju prirode i životne sredine usled smanjenja koncentracije turista u samo jednoj zoni.

Hipoteza rada je da prostorna grupacija turističkih lokaliteta uz železničku prugu Prokuplje-Kuršumlija-Merdare i turistička atraktivnost pruge, omogućavaju formiranje kombinovanog turističkog itinerera i razvoj novih oblika turizma. Potencijalni Toplički turistički itinerer povezao bi zonu okružnog centra Prokuplja i brda Hisar sa turističkom zonom Radan-Kosanica-Đavolja varoš, što bi omogućilo celovit obilazak okruga. U cilju potvrđivanja hipoteze, u radu su opisane i prikazane sve turističke vrednosti železničke pruge i turističkih punktova (lokaliteta) u njenoj zoni. Prostornom analizom ukazano je na stepen koncentracije/grupacije turističkih punktova i zona u neposrednoj zoni pruge, što omogućava njihovo kombinovanje, povezivanje i formiranje turističkog itinerera. AB  - Farm tourism is often considered a form of tourism whose main characteristic is sustainability. Nevertheless, the existing literature also provides a partial approach, where the development
of farm tourism is analyzed within the context of sustainable development and crisis situations, such
as the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the paper is to analyze environmental, social, and economic
factors as vectors for the sustainable development of farm tourism by applying a specially designed
SFT model. An empirical study was carried out on a sample of nine farms in the peri-urban area of
the city of Novi Sad (the Republic of Serbia). Sustainable development was analyzed using dynamic
social, economic, and environmental indicators with the aim of finding a model that could be used to
ensure more stable economic income for the population, social equality, and environmental protection.
By applying the SFT model, it was determined that the current position of farm tourism is not fully
compliant with the aims of sustainable development due to its clearly dominant economic dimension
and less developed social and environmental sustainability. The results were further analyzed with
the aim of achieving a balanced development of farm tourism, which needs to be based on the
continued application of the concept of sustainability. The results could be used by public and private
institutions in the tourism sector, as well as creators of legal regulations and strategies in the field of
sustainable and rural tourism, with the aim of further developing and improving its sustainability.

Evaluation and valorization of geoheritage of the Mount Rogozna area

AB  - Due to its unique geology, relief, and extensive hydrologic network, Mount Rogozna has been chosen as a case study for the quantification of geodiversity. The study consists of two interconnected parts. The first part demonstrates the application of the geodiversity evaluation method using the geodiversity index, whereas the second part deals with the evaluation of the geoheritage objects of the studied area. The methodology for calculating geodiversity index that was applied in this research was modified due to the size of the studied area. The geodiversity index is calculated based on the number of abiotic elements and the roughness of the relief within the studied area. Mount Rogozna, with an area of 818.26 km2, has been studied and processed using a network of spatial polygons of 500 × 500 m and using different maps. The second part of the research deals with the evaluation of geoheritage objects, applying the Geosite Assessment Model. The obtained results demonstrate that geoheritage objects are not always located in places with high values of the geodiversity index. This is proven by the fact that 5 out of 7 geoheritage sites are located in areas with low geodiversity values. The obtained qualitative and quantitative data with maps showing the distribution of geodiversity can serve as a starting point for the development of a planning and management strategy, but also as the example of good practice for possible further application in the quantification of geodiversity in this part of Serbia, and beyond its borders as well.

AB  - Sastavni deo turističkih aktivnosti jeste putovanje, odnosno dolazak do  destinacije. U skladu sa tim jedna od osnovnih funkcija infrastrukture je da to omogući.  Pored toga turizam podrazumeva i boravak turista, sa korišćenjem različitih usluga. Budući  da infrastrukturne resurse pored turista koristi i lokalno stanovništvo, teško je napraviti  razliku između opšte (tehničke i društvene) i turističke infrastrukture, odnosno one  infrastrukture koja je namenjena prvenstveno turistima. Postojanje opšte infrastrukture  je preduslov za život na određenom mestu, a time i za razvoj turizma, dok postojanje  turističke infrastrukture predstavlja nadogradnju usmerenu prevashodno ka razvoju turizma  (Лукић и сар., 2021). Turistička i opšta infrastruktura predstavljaju osnovne elemente koji  utiču na pristupačnost, opremljenost i mogućnosti boravka i korišćenja usluga na turističkoj  destinaciji. Održivi razvoj turizma trebao bi biti prioritet za sve oblike turizma i u svim  tipovima destinacija. Principi održivosti odnose se na ekološke, ekonomske i socio-kulturne  aspekte razvoja turizma i mora se uspostaviti odgovarajuća ravnoteža između ove tri  dimenzije kako bi se garantovala njegova dugoročna održivost (Протић и сар., 2022). Ovaj  rad kroz kraći pregled literature koja tretira problematiku turističke infrastrukture i razvoja  turizma prikazuje značaj turističke infrastrukture za održivi razvoj turizma.

AB  - Risk includes the concepts of uncertainty and potential negative consequences, whereby some of the value is lost. The risk can be viewed from the perspective of a traveler, a business operator or a tourist destination. In the context of a traveler, the perceived risk may influence the choice of destination and the behavior of the traveler. The tourism and hotel management sector today is very exposed to various external and internal challenges and crises. External factors include political instability, economic conditions, the environment and the weather. The level of impact of crises and disasters on tourism may vary depending on their nature, size and scope. In some incidents, the recovery period is short, while in others, such as natural disasters that damage infrastructure and communications, the recovery period is incomparably longer. The response and recovery varies depending on the nature and impact of the crisis or disaster. In some cases, the destination may not be directly affected by a crisis that makes it difficult to be managed, such as the tourism crisis caused by pandemics. In essence, a crises differ from a catastrophe based on whether the cause is the result of some internal organizational failure or an external event over which the organization has no control. As the world is prone to crises and disasters, the focus is on crisis management, which includes crisis prevention, crisis preparedness, crisis response and crisis management, to help businesses and destinations reduce vulnerability and build resilience to crises and disasters. Unfortunately, one gets the impression that for decades, no significant attention has been paid to research on the topic of crisis management in the field of tourism and hotel management. Today, articles on the tourism crisis and disaster management can be found in many highcategory journals. This study discusses proposed measures to mitigate risks and restrictions in tourism caused by economic crisis, natural disasters (tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods), climate change, terrorism and political instability, and pandemics, especially Covid-19, where special attention is given to considering a new risk scenario after the pandemic (what are the prospects and challenges for the new era of tourism).

The risk can be viewed from the perspective of a traveler, a business operator or a tourist destination. In the context of a traveler, the perceived risk may influence the choice of destination and the behavior of the traveler. The tourism and hotel management sector today is very exposed to various external and internal challenges and crises. External factors include political instability, economic conditions, the environment and the weather. The level of impact of crises and disasters on tourism may vary depending on their nature, size and scope. In some incidents, the recovery period is short, while in others, such as natural disasters that damage infrastructure and communications, the recovery period is incomparably longer. The response and recovery varies depending on the nature and impact of the crisis or disaster. In some cases, the destination may not be directly affected by a crisis that makes it difficult to be managed, such as the tourism crisis caused by pandemics. In essence, a crises differ from a catastrophe based on whether the cause is the result of some internal organizational failure or an external event over which the organization has no control. As the world is prone to crises and disasters, the focus is on crisis management, which includes crisis prevention, crisis preparedness, crisis response and crisis management, to help businesses and destinations reduce vulnerability and build resilience to crises and disasters. Unfortunately, one gets the impression that for decades, no significant attention has been paid to research on the topic of crisis management in the field of tourism and hotel management. Today, articles on the tourism crisis and disaster management can be found in many highcategory journals. This study discusses proposed measures to mitigate risks and restrictions in tourism caused by economic crisis, natural disasters (tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods), climate change, terrorism and political instability, and pandemics, especially Covid-19, where special attention is given to considering a new risk scenario after the pandemic (what are the prospects and challenges for the new era of tourism).",

AB  - Tourism  is  a  significant  segment  of  development  policy  at  the  national  level,  and  it  is  important  in  terms  of  contributing  to  the  Gross  domestic  product  (GDP)  diversifying  of  economy,  reducing   disparities   between   regions,   fostering   development   capital,   and   promoting   regional   development. Tourism greatly contributes to the sustainable development of a region and a unit of local self-government, in an environment where sometimes there are no other alternatives for achieving that goal. Theories of regional development and tourism have evolved over a similar period after the Second World War. The concept of regional development has undergone a significant transformation through various  theories.  The  paper  analyzes  the  main  principles  of  the  theory  of  endogenous  regional  development and the possibility of its application for tourism research as a development factor. Tourism development  policy  is  often  created  by  the  views  of  these  theories.  The  purpose  of  this  paper  is  to  indicate, based on the analysis of modern ideas and approaches to regional development, whether they are  suitable  for  the  study  of  tourism  and  which  factors  are  decisive  in  achieving  its  development  function.  The  paper  points  out  certain  elements  of  theories  that  can  individually  or  together  represent  the theoretical basis for tourism development planning in regions and local government units.

The dynamics of population change in Eastern Serbia from the midlle of the 20th to the beginning of the 21st century

AB  - Despite considerable natural resources and a favourable geographical location, all indicators of population trends show declining tendencies, which were indicated much earlier than they were recognized as a demographic problem. The aim of the article is to explore the dynamics and intensity of population change in Eastern Serbia, but without analytical approaches to the components of population dynamics. The chosen temporal and spatial coverage of the research is in accordance with the methodological approach, which provides for the application of the comparative-statistical method to as many spatial units as possible, in order to determine the spatial dispersion of the indicators of population growth. The data sources in this research are censuses, and the presented indicators of population growth were derived according to the methodology of demographic research. The obtained results show a weak increase in the population of Eastern Serbia from 1948 to 1961, since then the values of the growth indicators stagnate for a short time and then decrease continuously. In the whole observation period from 1948-2011, the growth index shows a 21% decrease in the population of Eastern Serbia. The average annual growth rates of the population in Eastern Serbia were lower than the average annual growth rates of the total population of Central Serbia in all intermediate census periods until 2011, and this difference is even more pronounced if the city of Niš is excluded from the total population of Eastern Serbia. Although the dynamics of population growth in Eastern Serbia in the period 1948-2011 is characterized by linearity (either in the form of increase or decrease), it is striking that not all parts of the country participate equally. Only 4 municipalities and the city of Niš recorded an increase in population, while in the other 20 municipalities the population decreased. In 10 municipalities depopulation was already recorded in 1953-1961.
AB  - Упркос значајним природним ресурсима и повољном географском по- ложају сви показатељи пораста становништва показују опадајуће трендове који су  наговештени знатно раније него што су евидентирани као демографски проблем. За- то је циљ овог рада је усмерен на истраживање динамике и интензитета промена бро- ја становника Источне Србија, без аналитичких приступа компонентама популацио- не динамике. Одабрани временски и просторни обухват истраживања задовољавају  методолошки приступ који подразумева коришћење упоредно-статистичког метода  на што већем броју просторних јединица како би се установиле детаљне специфич- ности просторне диверзификације показатеља раста становништва. Изворе података  чини пописана статистика, приказани показатељи пораста становништва су изведе- ни у складу са методологијом демографских истраживања. Добијени резултати пока- зују слаб пораст становништва Источне Србије од 1948. до 1961. године, од када су  вредности показатеља раста у краћој стагнацији, а потом у континуираном опадању.  У укупном периоду посматрања 1948-2011. године индекс раста показује пад станов- ништва Источне Србије од 21%. Стопа просечног годишњег раста становништва  Источне Србије је у свим међупописним периодима до 2011. године била нижа у од- носу на стопу просечног годишњег раста укупног становништва Централне Србије,  при чему је ова разлика још израженија када се из укупног становништва Источне Србије изузме Град Ниш. Иако динамику промене броја становника Источне Србије у периоду 1948-2011. године карактерише линеарност (било у смислу пораста или опадања становништва), примећујемо да у њој нису равномерно партиципирали сви њени делови јер су само 4 општине и Град Ниш повећали број становника, док је у осталих 20 општина забележено опадање становништва, при чему је у 10 општина депопулација забележена већ у периоду 1953-1961. године.
