AB - The sights of the City of Kruševac are numerous and they enable the realization of various aspects of tourism: cultural-historical, religious, sport, mountainous, spa, rural, and event tourism. This paper contains an analysis of the existing and planned tourism infrastructure, as well as the potential and limitations it is facing on the territory of the City of Kruševac. The subject of the research is tourism destinations in the vicinity of Kruševac – Jastrebac mountain and Ribarska Banja spa, as well as the most important sites in the tourism offer of the City of Kruševac. Tourism offer has significantly been improved by the investment into the development of secondary tourism centers – Jastrebac and Ribarska Banja. For quite a short period Jastrebac has become a favorite tourism destination of the citizens of Kruševac and the tourists from other settlements of Serbia and the neighboring countries. For its health-care purposes, Ribarska Banja has long been popular among the older population, and recently among younger generations as well, thanks to recreational tourism and natural beauties.

AB - The Spatial Plan of the Municipality of Trebinje is being drafted. The expert team from the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade is responsible for drafting the professional part of the Plan. Detailed analyzes of the area and the definition of operational goals to which the planning area aspires have determined the development concept in which the tourism has one of the most important roles. Thanks to the extremely favorable position of the territory of the Municipality, regional cooperation with an attractive tourist environment is a first-class prerequisite for the development of the entire territory. In order for it to be realized, it is necessary to raise the traffic and communal infrastructure to the highest level, and to enable the accessibility of Trebinje in an undisturbed, fast and safe way. Rehabilitation of the railway, improvement of the road network, construction of the airport, better levels of accommodation capacities, and first of all raising the attractiveness of the area, openness to cooperation and exchange of information and knowledge with the near and far environment, will enable the realization of development priorities. The immediate vicinity of highly established touristic destinations and areas (Dubrovnik and Herceg Novi), has a favorable effect on the development of the coastal hinterland, where the city of Trebinje leads. Therefore, the paper highlights the existing and planned activities in the direction of connecting and forming regional tourism cooperation and raising the competitiveness of the entire area.

AB - The paper discusses the similarities and differences between tourism and secondary housing in rural settlements of the City of Banja Luka. The complexity of the cottage phenomenon and the basic factors that predisposed the origin and development of these settlements were confirmed: driving factors (push factors, demand factors) and attractiveness factors (pull factors, supply factors) of the receptive area. The complexity of the phenomenon is reflected in the function of free time, as well as the function of work, places of consumption and production. The influences and consequences of cottages in geospace can be observed through the prism of physiognomic, economic and socio-cultural effects, which are intertwined.

AB - The key problem of rural settlements in the South Banat district lasted into the 21st century
through the spread of depopulated areas. Considering that settlements give a cultural
landscape its basic features, that they are the main bearers of functional organization, and
the hotspots of geo-spatial transformation, based on quantitative-qualitative indicators this
paper analyzes the spatial-demographic determinants of the development of 94
settlements, and the impact of depopulation on the changes in the surrounding forest
cover. The time span included in the analytical-statistical research of the demographic
components and forest dislocation lasted from 1990 to 2018. Geo-spatial data for forest
areas were taken from the Corine Land Cover database. The data obtained were then
turned into visual representations, or maps, using the GIS ArcMap 10.8. software. The
results indicated that total depopulation has been an ongoing, 30-years process in this
area on the one hand, while the forest cover in the depopulated settlements located on the
outskirts of the Deliblato sands (a special nature reserve) has decreased, and the forest
cover in the depopulated settlements in the zone of the Vršac mountains has increased, on
the other. These analyses are useful for obtaining more detailed insight into the state of
forested areas in this part of Serbia, which is the least afforested one.

AB - The sustainability of rural settlements in Serbia has become the main focus of strategic
rural development planning. Although it is still difficult to measure the quality of life of the citizens
of the Republic of Serbia, preliminary results show that it is necessary to go beyond the GDP as
the only or one of its most important indicators. A multidimensional approach and analysis at
the local level is necessary for more comprehensive insight into quality of life in order to avoid
erroneous or simplified conclusions. Striving to provide more detailed insight into the attitudes
and needs of the local population, this research uses a qualitative approach. Subjective measures
of how people feel and function in everyday life can predict future reactions, many of which are in
the domain of the interests of local public services. The aim of the research is to apply measurement
indicators through six dimensions of well-being in order to determine to what extent the inhabitants
of rural communities are satisfied with some indicators and how they assess their own well-being.
The research results illustrate the importance of understanding the needs of the local population and
the perception of overall life experience in monitoring balanced rural development. The research can
be adapted and applied to any rural community. Thus, only by developing a participatory approach
can one strive for community-based rural development.

AB - Various socio-historical and cultural influences that have permeated the territory of Serbia have created a specific cultural heritage composed of interesting architecture, spatial and environmental units, folklore, gastronomy, lifestyle, and other specifics, which are usually under protection and are significantly visited by tourists. The value of resources and the state of development determine the overall tourist potential of the area. In this research, two methods were used to assess the tourist potential for six spatial, cultural, and historical units in Serbia: the analytical hierarchical process and the mathematical model, which is based on the du Cros method. The aim of the research is to determine the validity of the obtained results through their comparison and to record the shortcomings. The same indicators and sub-indicators were used in both methodologies, while the weighting coefficients differed according to the methodology. The importance of the research is reflected in the confirmation of the fact that there is a need to develop new methods that would eliminate all the shortcomings and increase the level of objectivity in the assessment of tourism potential.

AB - The intensity of soil erosion is the result of a combined action of natural factors and different
human activities. This work aims to determine the factors controlling the change of soil
erosion. Eleven watersheds from different parts of Serbia were used as the study area. An
Erosion Potential Model was applied to estimate the soil erosion status of the watersheds
in two periods, 1971 and 2010. The model indicated that the reduction of soil erosion
intensity in the watersheds ranges from 12.4% to 82.7%. The statistical analysis examines
quantitative relationships and combined effects between soil erosion and socio-economic
and main physical-geographical determinants in watersheds. Watershed characteristics
were divided into 5 classes, and within each class 22 variables were calculated: two
variables relate to erosion, one to topography, two to land cover, seven to demographic
and ten to agrarian variables. Correlation analysis and Principal Component Analysis (PCA)
have been applied to understand the main variables that contribute to change soil erosion
intensity. The PCA identified four components that can explain at least up to 79.06% of the
variation of all variables. This study explores new indicators for correlations with changing
soil erosion and provides decision makers with access to quantification for environmental
impact assessment and decision-making for adequate soil conservation and management
programs.

sistem prostornog planiranja.

AB - The accelerated development of humanity, i.e., all areas of human activity and especially those that have a negative effect on the nature of man and the environment, leads people to return to a preserved and undamaged environment through various activities, especially through recreation. The largest number of tourists in the world is generated by cities, so tourism mainly occurs as a product of the urban environment. Rural settlements, by contrast, are very weak generators of tourist demand, but they emerge as receptive areas that are able to meet the recreational and other needs of the urban population. Accordingly, the aim of the research is to highlight the problems of sustainable development in tourist settlements located in underdeveloped rural areas of Serbia. This work highlights the issues of rural tourism and leisure activities in underdeveloped parts of Serbia, with an emphasis on a pro-poor tourism strategy as a factor in the sustainable development of rural tourist resorts in Serbia.

Dejtonskog sporazuma, predstavljaju kočnicu u sveukupnom prostorno-demografskom i privrednom razvoju Republike Srpske.

AB - The paper seeks to identify and assess the polarising, indirect and direct favourable influence of Belgrade, as the capital and the largest city in Serbia, in the development of settlements and centres within its administrative area, i.e. the territory administratively named the City of Belgrade. The paper includes an analysis of demographic trends, including commuting trends, and the functional and morphological changes in the settlements of the Belgrade region between 1971 and 2011. Various analytical and synthetic methods have been used to assess the investigated territory's degree of transformation, including both positive effects and the negative consequences of the impact of various factors. Suburban areas are not clearly delimited. Belgrade's urban area is not marked by social segregation. The initial hypothesis that the Belgrade region underwent a complex and multifaceted transformation has been confirmed, which will significantly determine future planning solutions, especially as regards the identified causes of the transformation, the factors of which have not been significantly changed in the transition, post-socialist period. The appropriateness of development planning measures and governing policies in this area is of crucial importance for the country as a whole.

AB - The subject of this paper is an evaluation of defined urban regions in Serbia, with an aim towards identifying their basic features, with special emphasis on the measurement of their functional polycentricity. These features include methods with following indicators: share of settled inhabitants to overall population number in the centre of urban region and surrounding area, according to the outcome; concentration level of employees in centres and structure of activities of active population performing an occupation, functional dependence of settlements in the area of the region and determining the functional polycentricity index of the urban region. Therefore, the goal of the paper is to clarify the difference between the urban regions that have developed in the area of Serbia, which are significant factors for further planning of polycentric and balanced regional development. The results of the survey show differences between urban regions. Almost half of the urban regions in Serbia have characteristics of monocentricity, while few polycentric urban regions differ in number of secondary centers. Certain differences between urban regions refer to the results related to share of the employees in primary centres in connection with the secondary centre region, if refers to a polycentric region, or in comparison to the region as a whole, if it implys to monocentric urban regions. All in all, primary differences between urban regions pertain to the degree of functional polycentrism.

AB - The spatial and demographic city growth, as well as the increasing urban concentration, have called into question the classic notion of the city. Given that the city is a complex human phenomenon, it is increasingly difficult today to determine the boundaries of the city, i.e. the zones where one city ends and another city begins. So, the city and its surroundings make an interdependent functional and spatial whole. The consequence of such development of the cities in the 19th century and their suburbanisation in the 20th century directly implies the emergence of complex types of morphological urban regions, i.e. the formation of an urban phenomenon - the megalopolis, which has not been precisely defined to date.

AB - Communal noise is the noise that comes from living together. It is the noise in the interior or exterior, whether in the working or living environment, spaces in public buildings or open public areas. The issue of communal noise has been partially resolved on paper by lows and by-lows on the permissible noise levels in the environment. However, the question is how much noise the community will tolerate, i.e, at what point citizens will start fighting noise. Numerous cities have signed strict regulations for reducing noise levels, both day and night, with a proposal for permitted limits. This paper presents commonly used methods for managing and protecting against the harmful effects of noise.

AB - This paper analyzes the basic characteristics of Serbia's urban system after World War II. The term urban system is largely determined by the use and functioning of the space in which it exists. We used the methods common in urban geography, notably the Rank-Size Rule and the Law of the Primate City with the aim of identifying the basic regularities, as the first step in an in-depth study of an under-researched topic. The research seeks to contribute to explaining the causes of the previous and current situation in the national settlement network, as a prerequisite for planning the future organization of the settlement network. Our study, conducted in Serbia, finds polarization apparent in the prominent domination of the capital city in terms of population, and this is a key feature of Serbia's urban system. The current situation is the result of an intensive process of urbanization, but also of the establishment of new administrative boundaries after the disintegration of Yugoslavia. The study also seeks to suggest the most appropriate development model for Serbia's urban system that could help overcome the extreme population concentration in Belgrade and create a basis for organizing an optimal system of centers. Keeping in mind that uneven regional development is determined by the features of the urban system, polycentric development is a common model for overcoming extreme polarization on a global level.

AB - Urban geography as a geographical discipline developed simultaneously with urbanization. Urbanization is said to be a continuous global and historical process that began to develop five thousand years ago, that is, from the emergence of the first cities. However, today, urbanization presents a broader concept. The urbanization process includes not only the emergence and development of cities, but also the complex changes in rural areas. By strengthening the urbanization of different characteristics and intensity, the content of urban geography extended and the methodology of urban geography developed.

Urbanization is said to be a continuous global and historical process that began to develop five thousand years ago, that is, from the emergence of the first cities. However, today, urbanization presents a broader concept. The urbanization process includes not only the emergence and development of cities, but also the complex changes in rural areas. By strengthening the urbanization of different characteristics and intensity, the content of urban geography extended and the methodology of urban geography developed.",
