AB - In the last decades, the development of transport infrastructure has been necessary because of the population increase and expansion of urban centres. Infrastructure development leads to modification and changes in areas characterized by high human population density. The lack of adequate transport infrastructure inhibits local economic and social performance. In the period of economic stability (from 1970 to 1990), important roads that increased the connectedness of the Kolubara District (Western Serbia) with other parts of the country and the surrounding countries were built, but there is still a need for the construction of new roads. In order to examine the attitude of the local population in regard to transport infrastructure, a survey was conducted using a questionnaire consisting of closed questions. This topic is one that has not previously been examined. The data obtained were analyzed statistically and showed that local people have a positive attitude towards the existing infrastructure and towards the construction of new roads. There are statistically significant differences between the attitudes of the local population in different municipalities. The results from this research offer an opportunity to develop guidelines which can influence traffic development in these and similar areas.

AB - In this paper we presented the case study of reindustrialization of Valjevo - ecological risks in the conditions of economic transition. The crisis in Serbia during the 1990s had, among others, consequences visible in the manufacturing activities, especially industry. Nevertheless, Valjevo, as an evident example of favorable business environment, has made significant efforts to build an ambient for successful entrepreneurship. The aim of the paper is a critical presentation of the state of: economy and employment, processes of reindustrialization, environment and ecological risks in Valjevo. Special attention was given to the presentation of investment activities (direct investments recorded from companies from Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and other countries). The state of the environmental elements' quality has been estimated, and, on the basis of this, we can conclude that in Valjevo, it is mainly satisfactory, although, in some areas, more or less altered. Also, that a higher concentration of population and various economic activities, along with inherited industrial production (outdated technological processes, large quantities of industrial waste, low energy efficiency, lack of facilities and equipment for pollution reduction, etc.) are in conjunction with the possible occurrence of ecological risks. It was found that the current state of data and planning documents related to ecological risks assessment on the territory of Valjevo, is characterized by the basic availability of information on the dangers of possible natural disasters and technological accidents, as well as on severity of consequences that can cause (endangering the health, security and life of people, damage of a smaller or larger volume, changes of the environmental status, etc.). In order to reduce the consequences of possible ecological risks and develop a sustainable and effective way of their management, it is necessary to take measures of prevention and protection, both of the population, and of natural and material goods. Also, investors, as well as local government in Valjevo, have to follow legal norms and standards and work on: introducing and encouraging of new technologies use and developing of socially responsible business with expert services and professional personnel trained to control and manage possible ecological risks.

AB - As a conventional non-renewable fossil energy sources have a leading role in energy production, constant price increase and lack of resources are the key problem for the whole world. Fossil fuels are the major polluters of the environment which leads to global issues such as global warming, greenhouse effect, acid rain, etc., therefore the growing need and importance of substitution of non-renewable to renewable energy sources is evident. Wind energy as a renewable source of energy has been recognized as one of the cleanest and economically viable substitution of fossil energy sources. Because of this, most countries of the world started to increase their use of wind energy to generate electricity. The Republic of Serbia, which has a remarkable wind potential, is still in the early stages of development in the field of wind energy. Numerous studies confirm that the territory of Vojvodina has the largest wind energy potencial in Serbia. The main objective of this paper is to extract the areas that are most suitable for the construction of wind farms on the basis of defined criteria and with the help of GIS technology in the territory of Vojvodina.

AB - The relationship between history of violent conflict in the Southern Europe and the Balkan Peninsula and various reconstructions of temperature in the Southern Europe over the last two millennia have been investigated. The research results indicate that in the period of the first millennium, conflicts were more intense during warmer period, both in the Southern Europe and on the Balkan Peninsula. On the other hand, in the second millennium, we find that in the Southern Europe and the Balkan Peninsula, during colder climatic periods, people were more inclined to violent conflicts.

AB - Drawing on a unique collection of both quantitative and qualitative data related to human trafficking, the paper attempts to evaluate not only the dynamics, forms and patterns of human trafficking in Serbia, but also the development of a national legal frame-work in the country. The most important factors that contribute to human trafficking in Serbia are its geographical position, poor social and economic conditions, and social marginalisation of vulnerable groups on one hand and, the ineffective functioning of state institutions in the eradication and prevention of human trafficking on the other.

AB - Klokot Spa is spa-tourist resort in the southeastern part of Kosovo and Metohija, situated 53 km south of Pristina, 15 km southwest of Gnjilane and 18 km east of Urosevac, in the village district of Klokot. It is located in the river valley of the Binacka Morava, between a mountain range Skopska Crna Gora in the south and Žegovac in the north, at the elevation of 483 m. Nowdays, Klolot is under the administrative control of UNMIK and KFOR. Basic natural curative factors, along with the mild climate, are the carbonic acid-sodium mineral hydrocarbon (1.5 to 4.2 g/l), cold, hypo and homeothermal (18-37oC) water springs, containing metasilicic acid (up to 174 mg/l), metaboric acid (up to 53 mg/l), lithium (1.06 mg/l), fluoride (2.4 mg/l), iron (up to 15 mg/l), radium and strontium etc. Carbon dioxide content is 0.75 to 1.8 g/l of water. Natural mineral springs have dried up, so for drinking and bathing in hot tubs and pools, water from several wells (abundance more than 140 l/s) is used. Natural healing mud (peloid) is often used. Mineral water is bottled as 'Klokot’s mineral water', both for the market, as well for carbon dioxide gas industry. The curative features of mineral water have been known since the mid XIX century.

abstract = "Klokot Spa is spa-tourist resort in the southeastern part of Kosovo and Metohija, situated 53 km south of Pristina, 15 km southwest of Gnjilane and 18 km east of Urosevac, in the village district of Klokot. The curative features of mineral water have been known since the mid XIX century., Klokot Banja je banjsko-turističko mesto u jugoistočnom delu Kosova i Metohije, 53 km južno od Prištine, 15 km jugozapadno od Gnjilana i 18 km istočno od Uroševca, u sastavu sela Klokot.

AB - The aim of this study is to identify, evaluate and predict the effect of the oscillation factors of rural tourism in the municipalities of Kosjerić and Gornji Milanovac. Market research, comparative analysis and SWOT analysis have been used in the paper as a method. The research results show that the different phases can be distinguished in the development of rural tourism in the mentioned municipalities, with varying intensity of activities, that the income of rural tourism is higher in Gornji Milanovac, that both municipal tourist organizations are involved in promoting rural tourism and that strategic activities are intensified in the last few years and the viability of this type of tourism is emphasized. The forecasts of further development are influenced by political, economic and demographic factors, as well as by the enthusiasm of those involved in this activity.

AB - Society has been living long in conditions of local and regional environmental risks caused by the growing demands, falling quality and diminishing, absolute and relative availability of water resources. Ecological risks, but also poverty of most of the world's population, are causes as well as consequences of the deficit of water resources. It has placed extremely complicated and complex tasks in front of fundamental and applied disciplines, social practice and different levels of political security decision making how to solve environmental risks in the area of providing water, water protection, protection from water, fair distribution of water, problems of upstream and downstream interests in the basin etc. Previous practice shows that intensity adjusted interaction in due time between man and environmental risks, especially in these cases where basic problems are water resources, leads to the improvement of social organization and arrangement of space. By contrast, bad attitude towards water resources and systems for their control causes the problems in the development and decline of many societies. Although relatively rich in water resources, regions of South Eastern Europe (SEE) a high degree of ecological vulnerability. Recent growing potential of environmental risks in the area of water resources is caused by climate change and substantially inefficient transition of social system, and delay in the development of large-scale water management infrastructure.
