AB - Thermal comfort assessments at local or micro-scales within urban areas can provide crucial insights for the urban adaptation strategies pertaining to climate-conscious urban planning and public health. However, the availability of long-term or mid-term daily or hourly meteorological data sets from urban environments remains a significant challenge even in the 21st century. Consequently, this study aimed to assess the thermal conditions in cities across the western part of the Balkan Peninsula, encompassing five countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro), by utilizing the Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) index. Meteorological data sets, comprising air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and cloudiness, were collected from 32 national meteorological stations/measurement locations spanning the period from 2001 to 2020. The PET calculations were conducted based on meteorological data measured three times per day (7 a.m., 2 p.m., and 9 p.m.). Upon conducting a spatial analysis of the meteorological stations, it was observed that most of them (25 stations) were situated within built-up areas or urban suburbs, rendering them highly relevant for local or micro-scale climate and bioclimate assessments. The findings revealed that urban locations exhibited slightly higher PET heat stress levels, particularly during the summer season and at 2 p.m. Moreover, higher average PET values were observed in both urban and non-urban stations situated within a continental climate during warmer periods, such as summer. In contrast, during the colder seasons, namely winter and spring, higher PET values were prevalent in the Mediterranean region. Furthermore, the PET frequency analysis revealed a greater prevalence of extreme and severe heat stress levels in stations within continental climates, particularly those located in urban areas, as compared to stations in Mediterranean climates. In contrast, during the winter and spring seasons, monitoring stations in close proximity to the Adriatic Sea, characterized by a Mediterranean climate, exhibited significantly lower levels of cold stress compared to inland stations. Evidently, in addition to the climatic characteristics and surrounding terrain, the urban morphology significantly impacts the thermal conditions within cities.

AB - World production growth affected a rise in the amount of waste generated. In these circumstances proper waste management becomes a highly important issue. The protection of the environment from degradation requires a multi-dimensional approach to this problem. Integration of multicriteria decision making with the geographic information systems provides a useful methodology and a helpful instrument in waste management, particularly in the assessment of environmental suitability for the location of municipal solid waste disposal sites. Multidimensional approach is realized through analytic hierarchy process (AHP) in the determination of sub-criteria and criteria values and final site selection. Geographic information systems (GIS) provide spatial data input and give an insight into final result of the decision-making process. Integrated methodology is applied in suitability analysis of the City of East Sarajevo for the location of municipal solid waste disposal site (MSWDS). Ten criteria were evaluated through pair-wise comparison matrices and suitability map was obtained using weighted linear combination algorithm in GIS. Extracting high suitability area, the largest locations were evaluated through AHP according to ten criteria and final site selection was made. The results indicate high applicability of integrated multi-criteria analysis and GIS methodologies for coordination of decision-making process in spatially oriented issues of environmental management.

AB - The urban microclimate is gradually changing due to climate change, extreme weather
conditions, urbanization, and the heat island effect. In such an altered environment, outdoor thermal comfort can have a strong impact on public health and quality of life in urban areas. In this study, three main urban areas in Serbia were selected: Belgrade (Central Serbia), Novi Sad (Northern Serbia), and Niš (Southern Serbia). The focus was on the temporal assessment of OTC, using the UTCI over a period of 20 years (1999–2018) during different seasons. The main aim is the general estimation of the OTC of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš, in order to gain better insight into the bioclimatic condition, current trends and anomalies that have occurred. The analysis was conducted based on an hourly (7 h, 14 h, and 21 h CET) and “day by day” meteorological data set. Findings show the presence of a growing trend in seasonal UTCI anomalies, especially during summer and spring. In addition, there is a notable increase in the number of days above the defined UTCI thresholds for each season. Average annual UTCIs values also show a positive, rising trend, ranging from 0.50 ◦C to 1.33 ◦C. The most significant deviations from the average UTCI values, both seasonal and annual, were recorded
in 2000, 2007, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2018.

AB - The objective of this paper is to assess the bioclimatic conditions in Serbia during summer in order to identify biothermal heat hazard. Special emphasis is placed on the bioclimatic index UTCI (Universal Thermal Climate Index), whose purpose is to evaluate the degree of thermal stress that the human body is exposed to. For this research, mean daily and hourly (07:00 and 14:00 CET) meteorological data from three weather stations (Zlatibor, Novi Sad and Nig) have been collected for the period from 1998 to 2017. In order to identify patterns of biothermal heat stress conditions, the thresholds of the daily UTCI (UTCI >= 38 degrees C, referred to as very strong heat stress, VSHS) at 14:00 CET are compared with the thresholds of daily maximum air temperature (t(max) >= 35 degrees C, referred to as hot days, HDs), which are further termed as heat wave events (HWEs). The findings show that the UTCI heat stress category "very strong heat stress" at 14:00 CET indicates heat waves. The most extreme heat wave events occurred in 2007, 2012, 2015 and 2017. Moreover, three HWEs at Nis that occurred in July 2007 lasted 3, 10 and 4 d. HWEs and very strong heat stress events (VSHSEs) recorded in July 2007 (lasted 10 d each), 2012 (lasted 9 and 12 d) and 2015 (lasted 7 and 10 d) were of the longest duration and are considered to be the indicators of biothermal heat hazard. The daily UTCI14h heat stress becomes more extreme in terms of severity and heat wave duration up to very strong heat stress.

AB - U radu je sprovedena bioklimatska analiza područja Parka prirode “Zlatibor” korišćenjem
Univerzalnog termalnog klimatskog indeksa (UTCI) kojim se predstavlja toplotni stres ljudskog
organizma uzrokovan meteorološkim uslovima. Cilj istraživanja jeste praćenje toka i promena

AB - The role of applied geography has been increasing in interdisciplinary research due to the advantage of knowing spatial processes and relations. This role has reflected in the geo-ecological evaluations of a particular geographical area used for different social purposes. This paper represents the GIS analysis of the natural environment of a part of the Drina River flow in wider terms so to apply in recreational tourism. The quantitative V-Wert diversification method has used for the study with the focus on identification of the area that might be favorable for recreation. The analysis is based on the knowledge of natural geographical elements. Criteria taken into consideration are the edges of the forest and water, the relief energy, the manner in which the landscape is used and the climate factor. According to the benefits of the said purpose, the unfavorable areas amount to 1,520 km2 (34.43%), conditionally favorable areas amount to 2,418 km2 (54.77%), favorable areas amount to 310.33 km2 (7.03%), very favorable areas amount to 163 km2 (3.69%) and the most favorable areas amount to 3.67 km2 (0.08%). The category of very favorable recreation contains a large area (167 km2) from the total amount of 4245 km2.

AB - The bioclimatic analysis of the central area of the city of Nis conducted in this paper is based on the use of the bioclimatic index Humidex, which represents subjective outdoor temperature that one feels in warm and humid environment. The purpose of this research is to observe the index change on a daily basis during the hottest part of the year (June, July, and August) over the period from 1998 to 2017. For the purposes of this analysis, hourly (7:00, 14:00), maximum and mean daily values of meteorological parameters (air temperature and relative humidity) were used, for the period of 20 years (1998-2017), which were measured at Nis weather station (43 degrees 19'N, 21 degrees 53'E, at an altitude of 202 meters). The findings indicate a gradual change in the bioclimatic characteristics of this area during this period, especially over the last decade. After 2007 there has been a decrease in the total number of the days described as "comfortable". However, there has been an increase in the index values in all the other heat stress categories characterized by a higher or lower degree of thermal discomfort. The years 1998, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2016, 2015, and 2017 stand out as adverse years.

putovanja.
budućeg privrednog i ekonomskog razvoja. Pogranični položaj ovog grada pruža
mogućnosti za razvoj dodatnih, specifičnih oblika turističke ponude. Strategijom razvoja
razvoj sportsko-rekreativnog turizma, posebno u zoni priobalja reke Trebišnjice, brdsko-
planinskom području, šumskim kompleksima i brojnim izletištima.

AB - The paper presents geoecological evaluation of the city of Loznica for the purposes of sports and recreational tourism based on quantitative method of diversity, V-Wert Method. Using the GIS tool by the quantitative method, the criteria of natural components (relief, forest, water surface and climate) are evaluated for the analyzed area. In the proposed method, the climate factor was supplemented by the analysis of the bioclimatic index Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI). When the evaluation was completed, the final results were obtained based on which the degrees of convenience of different parts of the analyzed area have been presented. Out of the total analyzed surface, which amounts to 705 km(2), favorable surfaces comprise 21 km(2) (2.98%), and very favorable surfaces comprise 33 km(2), i.e. 4.68% of the territory. The largest area consists of conditionally favorable terrains - 33 km(2) (47.23%). Since one of the basic strategic priorities of the City of Loznica is improvement and development of sports and recreational tourism, the aim of this analysis is to emphasize the potential of the mentioned area in terms of general suitability of the terrain for the development of this type of tourism.

AB - Novi Sad i njegova okolina zauzimaju značajno mesto u turističkoj ponudi Vojvodine, zahvaljujući obilju prirodnih i kulturnih vrednosti.

AB - This paper presents part of the research in the field of human bioclimatology and refers to biothermal conditions in different geographical environments in Serbia: an urban area and a mountain of medium height. The goal of the paper was to show bioclimatic differences during the summer between the city of Belgrade (116 m a.s.l.) and the mountain resort of Zlatibor (1498 m a.s.l.). The basic principle of bioclimatic analysis is the human heat balance between man and environment. This methodological approach is a combination of physiological and meteorological parameters that result in thermophysiological bioclimatic indices: heat load (HL) in man and the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI). For this analysis, weather data for July, as the warmest month, was obtained, using daily meteorological data for the decade from 2000 to 2010. Results for July indicate a considerable difference between the two abovementioned environments. HL in Belgrade was dominated by degrees of comfort "hot" and "extremely hot, with the highest value of 4.540, while for Zlatibor the dominant degree of comfort was "warm". The UTCI in Belgrade has dominated by strong heat stress and moderate heat stress, compared to Zlatibor where the UTCI is dominated by moderate heat stress. In addition, a significant part of the monitored decade on Mt. Zlatibor was without heat stress, with the exception of 2006 and 2007, indicating favorable biothermal characteristics. Therefore, compared to Belgrade, with its considerably lower overall heat stress Zlatibor has the characteristics of a site with favorable bioclimatic qualities.

AB - The subjects of research are Novi Sad, its immediate surroundings and the bioclimatic conditions prevailing in the given area. As Novi Sad is the administrative, cultural, educational, commercial, economic, health, social and historical center of Vojvodina it has a number of tourist potentials that are conducive to the development of various forms of tourism. The authors want to contribute with this paper to the affirmation of bioclimatic analysis and research using the Menex model in the field of geo-ecological evaluation of the urban landscape for the development and improvement of tourism and recreation as representative city functions. It is necessary to assess with what intensity and howbioclimatic conditions affect health or the psycho-physical state of a man in order to develop climatotherapy, recreation and certain forms of tourism. By applying the Menex model we can obtain an objective perception and data about real bioclimatic impact on the territory of Novi Sad and its surroundings. These can then be used for planning and management of urban areas and development of urban functions. During the research we used the daily meteorological data from 2015 by which thermo bioclimatic indices have been determined: Physiological Subjective Temperature (PST), Heat Load (HL) and Physiological Strain (PhS).

AB - Novi Sad and its surroundings are rich with the most diverse natural values that are good for the development of health tourism and recreation activities on their territory. Being in nature, next to water surfaces, forests and all green favorably affects on psycho - physical condition and improves life quality in urban environments. Aim of this work is geoecological evaluation of Novi Sad and its surroundings with the use of quantitative model of diversity, ie Hans Kiemstedt model for the purpose of health tourism and recreation. With this work authors want to contribute to further affirmation of geoecological evaluation in the area of planning and managing of urban areas. Methodology is based on Kiemstedt model, and criteria that are used are: forest and water edges, relief energy, way of land use and climate factor, or conditions of natural environment. Use of this model gives less of more favorable surfaces for the development of mentioned activities. The advantage of this model is the use of modern GIS technologies, obtaining tested and objective data that have a wide use.

AB - With this work we want to affirm geoecological evaluation, planning and landscape management. Geoecological evaluation of the Belgrade region, for the purpose of rest and recreation, was performed with quantitative method of diversity (V-Wert Methode) of Hans Kiemstedt. The method is suitable for the determination of potential locations suitable for rest and recreation, with various forms of relief (edge of forest and water, then climate and relief). Due to the surface of the evaluated area and the amount of data that had to be processed, the benefits of geographic information systems are expressed. According to this geoecological analysis favorable and very favorable areas for recreation are tied exclusively to the river flows of Sava and Danube. Each of the four raster units, which are marked as very favorable for recreation, include items of river islands (Baric river island, River island Ciganlija, River island Grocanska, Batkov river island and River island Brestovacka), which have high values of the length of the edges of the water.

AB - Our article describes cave Zeceva ledenjača, located on the southern slopes of the mountain Romanija. This cave is form of pit (a cold speleological object of a static ice pit type). Earlier it was known of ice exploitation, which was (until its artificial production) pulled out of the cave and delivered to hospitals, caterers and butchers in Sarajevo. The paper presents basic geographic, speleomorphological and morphometric characteristics of this cave, including its plan.
Pećina pripada tipu ledenica i snežanica.

AB - A new genus (Punctoduvalius gen. n.) and a species of trechine ground beetles (Punctoduvalius orlovacensis sp. n.) from Bosnia and Herzegovina have been described and diagnosed. Punctoduvalius gen. n. is clearly distinct from all other phenetically close genera in many important respects, such as: the presence of depigmented reduced eyes, the presence of a pigmented eye border, the presence of deep and complete frontal furrows, the presence of tiny setae on the genae, the presence of distinct longitudinal fissures on the protibias, the ratio of length/width of the first protarsal article in males, the presence of two elytral discal setae, the presence of numerous setiferous punctures in interstrial spaces, the specific position of the humeral setae, and the specific shape of the copulatory piece. This new genus comprises four species: Punctoduvalius pilifer (Ganglbauer, 1891) (endogean from Mts. Treskavica and Bjelašnica, and from a cave on Mt. Visočica, Bosnia and Herzegovina), P. protectus (Winkler, 1926) (from the Pećina kod Ostojića Cave, Mt. Treskavica, and endogean from Mt. Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina), P. brevipilosus (Knirsch, 1927) (endogean from Lupoglav Peak, Mt. Prenj, Bosnia and Herzegovina), and P. orlovacensis sp. n. (from the Orlovača Cave, village of Donje Biševo, near Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina). The four species clearly differ in many important respects. The following three taxonomic changes are proposed: Punctoduvalius pilifer (Ganglbauer, 1891), comb. n., P. protectus (Winkler, 1926), comb. n., and P. brevipilosus (Knirsch, 1927), comb. n. The new genus and its members belong to an old separate phyletic lineage, distinct from all other existing species groups. Additionally, these forms are relict and endemic to the deep soil and caves of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

AB - The goal of this paper is to show possibilities of multidisciplinary approach to the bioclimatic research in tourism, particularly in the spa tourism. In addition to the treatment of various diseases with thermal and mineral water, mud, gas and healing climate, modern spa also implies their importance in disease prevention and more often in recreation. The idea of the paper is to present how weather can be evaluated for recreational needs in the spa resorts. The results show biothermal weather classification for recreation based on the outdoor human heat balance. In this analysis, daily meteorological data (meteorological station of Doboj) were used for two extreme months, January and July. Town of Doboj was taken for analysis because there is a spa resorts in its vicinity.

AB - Previous studies of the health spa resorts have included just balneo analysis. Spas and health resorts ha changed the concept of treatment. The earlier concept was included only long-term treatment and recovering old people and people with diseases. Today, spas and health resorts are based on prevention of illness. They promote service for people of all ages regardless of health status. Natural curative factors such as mineral water, healing mud, healing gases, healing climate (air bath) are important for the treatment of many diseases, recovery after injury illness, stress, prevention and recreation. This paper try to give a biclimatic analysis of the Visegrad in order to point up recreational value of this therapeutic spa. The subject of this paper is analyses of equivalent temperature, comfort zones and zones of stuffiness that are processed on the basis of the meteorological data for thirty years (1961-1990) observation in town of Visegrad. We use software with related database created by authors.

AB - The biggest and one of the most interesting landslide in the basin of the river Visocica caused arising of natural accumulation of the water Zavojsko lake. To avoid the risks of uncontrolled waters, Zavojsko lake has been drained, in the second stage, during overhaul of landslide, the hydrotechnic measures have been taken at the dam, which was made stronger, strengthened and exceeded. It provided accumulation of Zavojsko lake with the water. Then, 520 hectare of the land have been flooded. Today, priority of the Zavojsko lake is in the water supply of the Pirot and Nis and hydroenergetic supply of the of the Water Power Plant in Pirot with the power of 80 MW which has been used from 1990. In this paper we describe how can new technologies be used in creating usefull hydro-technical objects

AB - The atmosphere is part of the environment in which the human body constantly seeks balance with the external environment. The reaction of an organism is a response to various physics and chemical processes in the atmosphere. By analyzing these aspects of environment, relevant to health, there is variety of complex effects presented with the bioclimatological indices. One of those indices is humidex used to describe how hot the weather feels to the average person by combining heat and humidity. The aim of the paper is to present how weather variables come together in order to give a elementary climate meaning for recreation within the health tourism. In this analysis, daily meteorological data were used for two extreme warm months, July and August (weather station in Banjo Luka). The final results show distribution of different degree of comfort caused by actual weather conditions. The idea is to show how weather can be evaluated for recreational needs in the health resorts around the city of Banja Luka.

AB - Biomass is biologically degradable material derived from living or recently living organisms. Its increased use can contribute the importation of many sustainable solutions for the energetic demands of humans. The goal of this article is to indicate the importance of biofuels, especially biodiesel, bioethanol and biogas, in the further development of Serbia. The use of biofuel doesn't lead to increasing the concentration of carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere. Thus, its impact on the consequences of global warming is positive. Because of the facts that the fossil fuels resources are limited, the oil is getting more expensive and the safety of oil apply is unsafe, it seems reasonable to consider energetic and economic efficiency of biofuel.
