Iz tog razloga osnovni cilj naučnih studija jeste rešavanje akumuliranih ruralnih razvojnih problema kroz iznalaženje mogućnosti i kasniju realizaciju ruralne obnove. Sa svojih 15 seoskih naselja, opština Ćuprija raspolaže značajnim kompleksima kako prirodnih, tako i kulturnih pejzaža. Međutim, kontinuirani, dinamični i strukturalni procesi poslednjih decenija u velikoj meri opterećuju sveukupni razvoj ovog prostora. Metodom neposredne opservacije, polustrukturisanim intervjuima i anketama utvrđeni su glavni ruralni potencijali i problemi u sferi demografskog, socioekonomskog i ekološkog kompleksa. AB - The role of seasonality in the sustainability of tourism is multiple and complex. The connection between seasonality and sustainability is even more complex when it comes to protected areas. This connection was investigated on the examples of selected protected mountain areas in Serbia ‒ Kopaonik and Tara National Parks, and Stara planina and Zlatibor Nature Parks. The Gini index was used to measure seasonality, and to show the imbalance in the monthly distribution of the number of tourist overnight stays in the mentioned destinations, in the period 2013‒2021. The research results show that the analyzed protected mountain areas in Serbia have different values of the Gini index, which is conditioned by their natural predispositions for tourism development (e.g. altitude and duration of snow cover), and at the same time the levels of tourist development of the area. In order to reduce the effects of seasonality, in each of the destinations that are the subject of this paper, alternative types of tourism and activities are implemented.

AB - The Updated Trewartha climate classification (TWCC) at global level shows the
changes that are expected as a consequence of global temperature increase and
imbalance of precipitation. This type of classification is more precise than the
Köppen climate classification. Predictions included the increase in global tem perature (T in °C) and change in the amount of precipitation (PA in mm). Two
climate models MIROC6 and IPSL-CM6A- LR were used, along with 4261 mete orological stations from which the data on temperature and precipitation were
taken. These climate models were used because they represent the most extreme
models in the CMIP6 database. Four scenarios of climate change and their terri tories were analysed in accordance with the TWCC classification. Four scenarios
of representative concentration pathway (RCP) by 2.6, 4.5, 6.0 and 8.5 W/m2
fol low the increase of temperature between 0.3°C and 4.3°C in relation to precipita tion and are being analysed for the periods 2021–2040, 2041–2060, 2061–2080 and
2081–2100. The biggest extremes are shown in the last grid for the period 2081–
2100, reflecting the increase of T up to 4.3°C. With the help of GIS (geographical
information systems) and spatial analyses, it is possible to estimate the changes in
climate zones as well as their movement. Australia and South East Asia will suffer
the biggest changes of biomes, followed by South America and North America.
Climate belts to undergo the biggest change due to such temperature according to
TWCC are Ar, Am, Aw and BS, BW, E, Ft and Fi. The Antarctic will lose 11.5% of
the territory under Fi and Ft climates within the period between 2081 and 2100.
The conclusion is that the climates BW, Bwh and Bwk, which represent the de serts, will increase by 119.8% with the increase of T by 4.3°C

AB - The urban microclimate is gradually changing due to climate change, extreme weather
conditions, urbanization, and the heat island effect. In such an altered environment, outdoor thermal comfort can have a strong impact on public health and quality of life in urban areas. In this study, three main urban areas in Serbia were selected: Belgrade (Central Serbia), Novi Sad (Northern Serbia), and Niš (Southern Serbia). The focus was on the temporal assessment of OTC, using the UTCI over a period of 20 years (1999–2018) during different seasons. The main aim is the general estimation of the OTC of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš, in order to gain better insight into the bioclimatic condition, current trends and anomalies that have occurred. The analysis was conducted based on an hourly (7 h, 14 h, and 21 h CET) and “day by day” meteorological data set. Findings show the presence of a growing trend in seasonal UTCI anomalies, especially during summer and spring. In addition, there is a notable increase in the number of days above the defined UTCI thresholds for each season. Average annual UTCIs values also show a positive, rising trend, ranging from 0.50 ◦C to 1.33 ◦C. The most significant deviations from the average UTCI values, both seasonal and annual, were recorded
in 2000, 2007, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2018.

AB - In conditions of overpopulated urban centers, one of the main issues is to ensure new green spaces. Vertical and rooftop greenery in urban centers is often the only possibility to increase the green areas, as well as the factor of creating better living conditions, which is the subject of this paper analysis. The greening concept of vertical surfaces and rooftops has also been proved as the factor for creating better community hygiene conditions (landscaping of neglected buildings’ rooftops and solving communal problems, as well as landscaping of slopes, repairing of bridge structures, retaining walls, concrete riverbanks and canals). In addition, it has been the significant environmental protection factor (increase of green areas, decrease of climate extremes and mitigation of city “heat island”, energy efficiency of buildings, increase of biodiversity, etc.). This research includes the analysis of relevant literature, scientific papers, monographs and planning documents, as well as the specific examples of various cities around the world. The aim of this paper is to determine the possibilities for implementation of the rooftop and vertical greenery concept, as the improvement factor of community hygiene conditions in the cities of Serbia.

AB - In this study, the landscape suitability assessment was used to quantify and map the relationships between landscape functions (agriculture production, recreational tourism and mineral resources exploitation). Obtained results can be treated in two ways. The greatest potentials for conflict are observed in the multifunctional landscapes of Branicevo District, where the mapped landscape functions carry high values. In the same way, the values obtained by determining the degree of suitability reflect development opportunities, and indicate terrains most suitable for the development of agriculture production and recreational tourism. The methodological approach is based on the combined application of the Relative Relief Evaluation Method and V-Wert method. GIS data processing produced synthesis maps, which presented spatial units, grouped into categories with values conditioned by the heterogeneous landscape structure. Spatial units indicating high and conditionally high level of potential conflict between agriculture production and recreational tourism occupy an area of 16.01%, while spatial units where high and conditionally high level of potential conflict between all three landscape functions occupy 4.91% of the district. The most suitable terrains for agriculture production development occupy 23.17% of the area, while the spatial units indicating terrains most valuable for recreational tourism development occupy 7.43% of the study area.

abstract = "In this study, the landscape suitability assessment was used to quantify and map the relationships between landscape functions (agriculture production, recreational tourism and mineral resources exploitation). The most suitable terrains for agriculture production development occupy 23.17% of the area, while the spatial units indicating terrains most valuable for recreational tourism development occupy 7.43% of the study area.",

AB - The subject of this paper is to present an investigation of renewable energy potential in one small municipality in south Serbia. Serbia has a relatively small area but a large number of renewable energy resources. This energy is divided into solar, wind, geothermal and waste wood. One municipality on the south east has very large potential for the renewable energy utilization. The municipality of Kursumlija has an area of 952 km(2) but with poor dense of the population. In this municipality we have one of the most powerful resources of the renewable energy, estimated on 118.5 MWt. With the help of different methods such as GIS (Geographical Information System), numerical and geo-statistical analyses, were analyzed total capacity of the renewable energy. Other relevant documents are the municipality strategy documents, satellite recordings, cadaster data, analogue plans and maps. The estimated capacity of geothermal energy with included 23 springs may reach 25.5 MWt. The waste wood estimated capacity is may reach 1123.5 TJ/year or 35.6 MWt. The solar potential may reach 1810.8 Tj/year or 57.4 MWt. The main goal of this research is to present renewable energy potential of the municipality and compare it with dirty kinds of energy. Other goals are to present benefits and advantages of the utilization of renewable energy sources. This research is also important to present to the broader readership and it can be the start initiative for deeper investigation of renewable energy resources.

AB - After the breakup of the former Republic of Yugoslavia, the number of inhabitants in newly formed state of Serbia has been in constant decrease. On the other hand, the number of urban areas has been growing. One of the main goals of former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was the development of all the areas, including the rural ones. In the '60s and the '70s, the land with special purpose was supposed to be of the utmost importance. Urban regions were to be better connected and enlarged. The main reason for it was the distribution of economic activities as well as the process of deagrarization which had already been in progress. In 1966, the first spatial plan of a special-purpose area, being the outset of an idea in a Socialist country, was in fact the proposition of the first Yugoslav conurbation. The long forgotten project was about to be reinforced in 1996, when thirty years later the country was in a transitional period, heading towards market capitalization. After the final breakup of Yuoslavia, there was a growing need for preservation of the urban areas and large trade centers, along with the necessity of better communication among municipalities. The ambitious project in question called "Morava city", has never been brought to life. The main purpose of this manuscript is to answer the question of the actual necessity of this potential conurbation by means of GIS methodology, qualitative and quantitative techniques, and demographic and sociological factors. Accordingly, by means of spatial analysis, the communist project is placed into post-communist environment. Finally, the manuscript focuses on the relationship between rural and urban areas, traffic connectivity, geographical position, and most importantly on the sustainability and profitability of the first Serbian conurbation.

AB - With the help of satellite data and numerical geographical information system (GIS) methods, the total capacity of dew volume on the entire territory of the Republic of Serbia was estimated. Multicriteria GIS analysis and satellite detections with the support of methods such as kriging and semi-kriging gave satisfactory results in the present research. After the download of satellite data, they were compared with meteorological data for precipitation, evaporation and air temperature. A very precise grid in 1 x 1 degrees of longitude and latitude was created. The average estimated dew potential for the territory of Serbia is 20-40 mm.year(-1)for the south of the country, 15 mm.year(-1)for the north, 30-50 mm.year(-1)for the central region and 20-30 mm.year(-1)for the east. In most drought regions, it is lt 10 mm.year(-1).m(-2). Counties with the largest dew capacity (between 15,200 and 20,000 L) include Borski, Nisavski and Jablanicki in the eastern part of the country, as well as Zlatiborski, Raski and Pec in the western and southern parts, respectively. On the other hand, counties with the lowest dew capacity (2,000-3,000 L) encompass northern parts of Serbia (Sremski, Severno-Banatski, Srednje-Banatski, Juzno-Banatski, Severno-Backi and Zapadno-Backi). The possibility for dew use is particularly strong during the spring. The estimated total capacity of the dew potential for Serbia is 1.5 x 10(7)L. By comparing the obtained data for Serbia, it is concluded that the amount of this type of water resource is not large, but enough for use in agricultural and other economic sectors.

AB - Using the existing knowledge about the social and cultural characteristics of the Roma in Serbia, possible connection between Roma population and preserving of natural resources was established. This analysis acquired in social and other related studies, as well as the data obtained through the GIS (geographical information system) methodology, was used for determining the spatial distribution of Roma settlements and activities of the Roma community in the space. The Toplica District has one of the high percentages of Roma population and their daily migrations. This article investigates the possibility to raise the level of their economic activity and social integration, while simultaneously preserving natural resources and improving environmental safety. With the specific GIS, and numerical and sociology analysis, we try to address main problems in the District, hoping to find a connection between inner migration of Roma and better preservation of nature.

With the specific GIS, and numerical and sociology analysis, we try to address main problems in the District, hoping to find a connection between inner migration of Roma and better preservation of nature.",

AB - A temperature rise, extreme weather conditions and its consequences negatively impact the quality of life in towns and regions in Serbia and are challenges yet to be faced in the future. In order to prepare the country more adequately to altered climate conditions, as well as the successful implementation of adaptive measures, it is necessary to determine the vulnerability, as well as the assessment of the risks to certain sectors to climate change. Estimates show that since 2000 the Republic of Serbia has faced several significant extreme climate and weather events that have caused the loss of human life, considerable material consequences and degradation of the natural environment. The consequences have been various depending on the part of the country and the paper uses as an example the Raska Administrative District which covers an area of 3.918 km(2) and has 309.258 residents. The aim of the paper is to assess the vulnerability and assessment of the risks of natural resources (agricultural and forest land) of the Raska Administrative District to climate change based on methodology 'FUTURE CITIES Adaptation Compass' [1], developed as part of the EU Project FUTURE CITIES. Using the results of 9 different models for the RCP 8.5 scenario, the paper concluded that agriculture and forests would be at a very high risk of heat waves, droughts and extreme precipitation, as well as under the medium-level risk of extreme cold. The research has a applicative character as it represents the starting point in the process of adapting to climate change. Also, the result of the paper has significant impact on planning spatial development because the defining of planned solutions must be in correlation with possibilities for adapting the sector to different climate conditions, and thus the realistic concept of spatial development.

AB - The aim of this paper is to identify the most suitable locations for the construction of Solar Photovoltaic Plants (PVP) on the territory of the City of Belgrade (Republic of Serbia). The city is rich in natural resources and abundant in energy potential. The climatic and spatial characteristics favor the use of solar energy: the average annual solar radiation in Belgrade is 1446.8 kWh/m(2)/year, and the sunshine duration is around 2200 h/year. The analysis covered the area of 3240.7 km(2) (administrative area of Belgrade). Geospatial evaluation was based on three basic criteria: aspect, slope and land use. The Method of elimination in combination with modern methods in geospatial research (GIS) was applied. Based on the mentioned geospatial factors, thematic maps were made and later, their overlapping resulted in obtaining a synthesis Map of the suitability of the terrain for the construction of the PV plants. Of the total considered area, 13.68% were evaluated as suitable for the given purpose.

AB - In December 2019, the virus SARS-CoV-2 responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic was detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The virus started to spread from China and dispersed over the rest of the world. In March 2020, WHO (World Health Organization) declared COVID-19 a pandemic. The transmission path of the pandemic was accelerated by different types of transportation. With complete analysis of spatial data, population density, types of traffic networks, and their properties, the spatial distribution of COVID-19 was estimated. GIS (Geographical Information System), numerical methods, and software for network analysis were used in this research to model scenarios of virus distribution on a global scale. The analyzed data included air, railway, marine, and road traffic. In the pandemic research, numerous models of possible trajectory of viruses can be created. Many have a stochastic character. This study includes all countries in the world affected by the COVID-19 up to date. In this study, GIS methods such as buffer, interpolations, and numerical analysis were used in order to estimate and visualize ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation. According to the availability of new data, trajectory of virus paths was estimated. On the other hand, sparsely populated areas with poorly developed and small traffic networks (and isolated island territories) tend to be less or not affected as shown by the model. This low-cost approach can be used in order to define important measures that need to be addressed and implemented in order to successfully mitigate the implications of COVID-19 not only on global, but local and regional scales as well.

AB - Sea surface salinity presents one of the most important chemical elements in the water. Climatic variables, included in new view of salinity distribution at a global scale, were used in this research. For the purpose of this research newly updated climate parameters for the period until 2100 were used along with (CMIP5) climatological model. The new distribution of surface salinity may show water desalination and energy potential. This map can be useful in the determination of new littoral areas or for fishermen's routes. These data are presented in geo-tiff raster extension with the resolution of 0.1. This map could be updated with climatological parameters with obtained medium climate change effects. Some places in the world sea have low, some have high salinity. Salinity increases in accordance with the increase of precipitation and decreases with the decrease of it. The paper presents following maps; salinity world map when there is no climate change; the moderate one, if the temperature increases for 2.0 degrees C until 2100, and high if the increase of temperature was between 2.0 degrees C and 5.0 degrees C. The three scenarios were taken to show updated maps of world salinity in comparison with climate change effects.

AB - The objective of this paper is to assess the bioclimatic conditions in Serbia during summer in order to identify biothermal heat hazard. Special emphasis is placed on the bioclimatic index UTCI (Universal Thermal Climate Index), whose purpose is to evaluate the degree of thermal stress that the human body is exposed to. For this research, mean daily and hourly (07:00 and 14:00 CET) meteorological data from three weather stations (Zlatibor, Novi Sad and Nig) have been collected for the period from 1998 to 2017. In order to identify patterns of biothermal heat stress conditions, the thresholds of the daily UTCI (UTCI >= 38 degrees C, referred to as very strong heat stress, VSHS) at 14:00 CET are compared with the thresholds of daily maximum air temperature (t(max) >= 35 degrees C, referred to as hot days, HDs), which are further termed as heat wave events (HWEs). The findings show that the UTCI heat stress category "very strong heat stress" at 14:00 CET indicates heat waves. The most extreme heat wave events occurred in 2007, 2012, 2015 and 2017. Moreover, three HWEs at Nis that occurred in July 2007 lasted 3, 10 and 4 d. HWEs and very strong heat stress events (VSHSEs) recorded in July 2007 (lasted 10 d each), 2012 (lasted 9 and 12 d) and 2015 (lasted 7 and 10 d) were of the longest duration and are considered to be the indicators of biothermal heat hazard. The daily UTCI14h heat stress becomes more extreme in terms of severity and heat wave duration up to very strong heat stress.

abstract = "The objective of this paper is to assess the bioclimatic conditions in Serbia during summer in order to identify biothermal heat hazard. AB - Zaštićena prirodna dobra na teritoriji gradskog naselja Beograd zauzimaju približno 10.58km2, odnosno 2,72% ukupne površine (Samardžić I., 2017). Postoje mogućnosti proširenja zaštite i proglašenja novih zaštićenih prirodnih dobara (Forland leve obale Dunava, Stepin lug i dr.). Ipak, u postojećim zaštićenim prirodnim dobrima postoje problemi upravljanja što je i predmet istraživanja ovog rada. Ti problemi su: administrativno-organizacioni (politika zaštite životne sredine i proglašenje zaštite prirodnih dobara, neprofesionalni menadžment i kadrovska politika, nesprovođenje planskih dokumenata, neadekvatan rad inspekcijskih organa, izostanak koordinacije komunalnih preduzeća, nerešavanje komunalnih i drugih problema poput nelegalne gradnje, seče šuma, pošumljavanja, uklanjanja smetlišta i dr.), neefikasna kaznena politika (niske kazne ili izostanak kazni, obuka sudija), kapaciteti upravljača (ljudski resursi, mehanizacija), nedovoljna materijalna ulaganja, nizak nivo ekološke svesti stanovništva i specifični problemi zaštite pojedinačnih stabala. AB - The objective of this paper is the landscape evaluation of Burgenland (federal state of Austria) for the purposes of ecotourism, based on the Quantitative method of diversity (V-Wert method), where the natural elements of landscape (forests, water surfaces, relief, climate) and land use of considered area are taken as the main criteria for the evaluation. The research was carried out using modern mapping methods and GIS software. By applying this method, more or less favorable surfaces are determinated for the given purposes, with the aim of identifying landscape units which have a high degree of convenience for the development of different types of sustainable and ecotourism, where the main motives of tourist activity are natural heritage and natural touristic values, which are making that landscape more exclusive and more attractive among tourists and visitors. The results of geospatial analysis and landscape evaluation of considered spatial entity in this paper could greatly contribute to an additional tourist valorization of Burgenland.

AB - This paper evaluates the application of the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) in the monitoring and assessment of temporal vegetation cover changes (from 2006 to 2014) in three municipalities of Central Serbia: Topola, Jagodina and Kursumlija. Additionally, special focus is placed on the analysis of the forest areas and the possible use of NDVI in the forest management sector. Results of the NDVI applied through Idrisi software identify all vegetation cover types and their typical values for presented case studies and observed periods. Obtained results for Serbian case studies indicate two major observations outlined for the investigated period. It was noticed that vegetation cover is experiencing a certain decrease, and that certain discrepancies exists between the NDVI and official forest area statistics for certain municipalities. The study outlines the positive outcomes of the applied remote sensing techniques, especially for southern Serbian municipalities where illegal logging activities are pronounced. Hence, this method proved very promising for countries performing national forest inventories, such as Serbia, providing local forest managers with several essential up-to-date information about vegetation cover changes on an annual basis.

AB - The bioclimatic analysis of the central area of the city of Nis conducted in this paper is based on the use of the bioclimatic index Humidex, which represents subjective outdoor temperature that one feels in warm and humid environment. The purpose of this research is to observe the index change on a daily basis during the hottest part of the year (June, July, and August) over the period from 1998 to 2017. For the purposes of this analysis, hourly (7:00, 14:00), maximum and mean daily values of meteorological parameters (air temperature and relative humidity) were used, for the period of 20 years (1998-2017), which were measured at Nis weather station (43 degrees 19'N, 21 degrees 53'E, at an altitude of 202 meters). The findings indicate a gradual change in the bioclimatic characteristics of this area during this period, especially over the last decade. After 2007 there has been a decrease in the total number of the days described as "comfortable". However, there has been an increase in the index values in all the other heat stress categories characterized by a higher or lower degree of thermal discomfort. The years 1998, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2016, 2015, and 2017 stand out as adverse years.
