AB - The main morphological feature in the relief of Serbia is its gradual rise from the Pannonian Plain in the north to the highest parts of the Šar-Prokletije Mountains in the south and southeast. The central part of the territory encompasses the valleys of the Morava and Southern Morava Rivers, which flow from south to north. West of them lies a mountainous region with the Dinaric Mountains as the most exceptional range. The Carpathian-Balkan mountain range in the east undergoes a gradual decrease of elevation, transiting into marginal parts of the Vlaško-Pontian Plain. The relief base is made up of rocks of different age and different origin (sedimentary rocks with Quaternary alluvial and aeolian products as the most widespread and very abundant carbonate rocks), igneous rocks and diverse metamorphic rocks. The relief was formed over a long period of time with significant climate changes that led to alternation of geomorphological processes (aeolian, periglacial and glacial). In the relief of Serbia, depending on the role of geomorphological processes, it is possible to distinguish different genetic morphostructural types of relief that arose under the influence of endogenic forces (tectonic and volcanic) and exogenic processes (recent fluvial-denudation, karstic colluvial and periglacial). Preserved palaeorelief forms that arose during earlier stages of relief formation have been overprinted by recent geomorphological processes (palaeoabrasional, palaeokarstic, palaeoglacial and palaeoaeolian). Anthropogenic influence on relief (active for several centuries) was occasionally high enough to result in complete conversion of natural relief features and appearance of a new category – anthropogenic relief. Diverse lithology, a different tectonic fabric, neotectonic activity and former and recent climate changes are the major factors that have led to the formation of genetically diverse relief types, from different morphostructural relief elements to genetically various exogenic landscapes.

AB - The most significant caves in Montenegro were distinguished in response to their physical-geographic, biological, archeological and morphometric characteristics (length and depth). Caves distribute in four distinctive regions: coastal karst, karst plateau (relict valley system), fluvial karst (recent hydrologic systems) and the high mountainous karst area. The most outstanding within the last, due to abundances of the major caves with depths from a few hundred meters to 1,162 m, are four mountain regions: Mt. Durmitor, Mt. Lovcen-Orjen, Mt. Maganik and Mt. Bjelic.

AB - The Debeli Namet glacier is located on the Durmitor Mountain in Montenegro. It is considered to be the southern most glaciers in Europe and the only modern glacier in overall area of Dinarids. In size is micro, i.e., embryonic glacier. The significant role in its origin and evolution had its macro, and particularly micro positioning respect to large relief landforms. Pleistocene cirques were recently under karst processes modified and transformed into karst forms (uvalas). Such closed forms considerably supported the accumulation of snow and formation of numerous snow patches as well as the Debeli Namet glacier. Geomorphological factors that supported the development of the Debeli Namet glacier are lowtemperatures (cryogenic), huge amounts of snow (nival) and carbonate basement (karst). In the highest elevations of the Durmitor Mt., as well as at other high mountains in Montenegro dominates periglacial process. On carbonate basement formed recent protalus ramparts, while those formed during the Little Ice Age survived. At non-carbonate basement persisted rock glaciers. According to recent morphology and climate conditions the hypothetical boundary of glacial process has been established to beneath the highest mountain peaks on Durmitor. As glacial process takes part above a periglacial zone, the glacier Debeli Namet represents the out of zone occurrence. Certain variations in glacier size were noted during instrumental observations. Analyses of two main climate factors (air temperature and precipitation) for the last four decades reflected on certain climate changes that had positive and negative influence on size of the Debeli Namet glacier. The most important changes were in its thickness while the length and the areal extent remained less affected due to its specific position.

AB - Montenegro is located in the Balkan Penninsula, which is extremely mountainous country. More than two thirds of the total area is mountainous. There are four macro relief units in the mountain area: mountain plains, valleys (canyons and gorges), basins, and mountains. A very dynamic physical geographic basis (geology, geomorphology, climate, hydrology) enabled the diversity and rich natural potential resorts to be formed in the mountain area in Montenegro. In the past 50 years, new industries have appeared: mining, metallurgy, energy production, traffic, and tourism, and their development has led to endangered, devastated, and polluted environments in the mountain area of Montenegro.

AB - This paper provides the insight into morpho-hydrologic characteristics and speleogenesis of the Jankova pećina cave and the evolution of karst in the nearby vicinity. Phases in cave evolution, which represents the alternation of accumulative and erosion processes, were analysed. Clogging of existed conduits during the first accumulative phase leads to displacement of the Janko's creek abyss and formation of another entrance along with new, deeper storaged conduits. The strewed parts of the cave were exposed to partial removal of sediments what resulted in exhumation of its oldest products. The opening of the quite new entrance (vigled) during the opposite process and phase of clogging the endure air circulation inside the cave has been changed. As the consequence, the asymmetric forms of stalactites and stalagmites formed. Study of the Jankova pecina cave represents a contribution to better knowledge of accumulative processes as a significant speleogenetic factor.

AB - Morphological and hydrological analyses of the characteristics of the Serbian border zone towards Bulgaria were performed. The morphological analysis included the mountain (Stara Planina, Tupižnica, Svrljiške Planine, Suva Planina and Vidlič), structural basin (Zaječar, Knjaževac, Svrljig and Bela Palanka) and valley (Veliki Timok, Beli Timok, Visočica, Dragovištica) parts. Within the hydrological analysis, the areas with the highest and lowest annual amount of precipitation were identified, as well as the hottest and coldest areas. The change of river basins runoff was analysed, as well as the distribution of waters throughout the year in the studied area. The most important elements of the water balance were shown and the hydrological characteristics of the karst terrain were analysed.

The most important elements of the water balance were shown and the hydrological characteristics of the karst terrain were analysed., AB - The Debeli Namet glacier is one of two recent glaciers located in the south western Balkans, located on Durmitor Mountain in the south eastern Dinarides mountain range in Montenegro and is considered to be a small glacier. The size of the glacier from 1954 to 1981 was estimated based on aerial photographs. According to glaciological research, geomorphologic studies of the nearby relief and analyses of climate change (temperature and precipitation) within the last 50 years, new data on the glacier have been obtained. The Debeli Namet glacier is reducing at a rate slower than that of other southern European glaciers. The Debeli Namet glacier did not significantly fluctuate in size (surface and thickness) in response to temperature increases that occurred at the end of the 20st and at the beginning of the 21st centuries. Here, we present partially revised data accompanied by recent results related to the glacier's recent behaviour, its surroundings and its associated climate.

AB - Serbia can be divided into two major geographical units: the Vojvodina Plain and the southern hills and mountains. In the plain fluvial and aeolian processes and landforms on loess are typical, while south of the Sava and Danube rivers, sheet and gully erosion, mass movements, fluvial, karstic, and fluvio-karstic landform evolution are most influential in shaping the present topography. Among the now inactive geomorphic processes tectonic movements, volcanic activity, coastal, glacial, and aeolian evolution have left behind traces still detectable in modern topography. Some examples of rapid topographic change resulting in the most spectacular landforms (landslides, rockfalls, natural bridges, and rock pinnacles) are presented and described in detail from various regions of Serbia.

AB - The alternation of glacial and carts processes as the consequence of frequent changes of glacial and interglacial phases could be recognized at the mountains Durmitor and Žijovo. Re-modeling of glacial morphology (cirques and trough valleys) carved currently karst topography with domination of uvalas. Their size and shape vary considerably as the consequence of differences within the preexisting glacial forms. Duration and intensity of kartification, which re-modeled former glacial forms into karst landforms, determine the degree of uvalas development and formation of three distinct evolution types of high-mountainous uvalas: glacial, glacial-karst and glaciofluvial.
AB - Kao posledica čestih smena glacijalnih i interglacijalnih faza na planinama Durmitor i Žijovo dolazi do smena glacijalnog i kraškog procesa.

AB - Incomplete definitions of geodiversity and geoheritage caused the domination of clearly geological approach to these scientific problems. That is the reason why some of the integral elements of geographical environment were neglected. Wrong theoretical assumptions reflected negatively the determination and advancement of this scientific discipline. The reasons for such condition are mentioned in the paper, as well as the necessity of different and more comprehensive perspective of geodiversity and geoheritage, by which the directions of the future development are implied. .

Wrong theoretical assumptions reflected negatively the determination and advancement of this scientific discipline. The reasons for such condition are mentioned in the paper, as well as the necessity of different and more comprehensive perspective of geodiversity and geoheritage, by which the directions of the future development are implied. .",

AB - Mount Durmitor is situated in the southeastern part of the Dinaric mountain system in Montenegro. Throughout the Pleistocene there were many glaciers there, which descended to adjacent karst plateau. Types of glaciers, their number and direction of moving were mostly affected by geological structure (carbonate basis) and pre-glacial relief (karst and fluvial relief). During two phases of intensive glaciation, the surface that had been seized by glacial changes also changed. Over 54% of the surface of Durmitor was exposed to the glacial process of the stronger phase and about 36% of the weaker phase. Cirque type of glaciation dominated the third phase.

AB - The Duboka drains the eastern side of Kopaonik Mountain. Geomorphology and geology of the area indicate, and the office and field researches confirm, that the Duboka was formerly in the Rasina basin and now belongs to the Toplica system. A minor Toplica tributary captured the Duboka headwater and diverted it into its drainage system. Capturing and captured s of the two systems are a geomorphologic rarity; the headwaters of the Rasina are diverted into the Toplica system, and the middle course of the Toplica (Blatašnica) captures the Rasina.

AB - Montenegro occupies relatively small, southeastern part of the Dinaric mountains. Geological composition, which is predominantly carbonate, enabled formation of a great number of deep canyons and gorges. Canyons of Montenegro were formed in several ways, during multiple phases. Regardless of polygenetic and polymorphic character of the canyons, they can be classified into three main groups. By incision of melt-water rivers of Pleistocene glaciers, deep and particularly narrow canyons of small width were formed. The rivers that presently flow through these canyons have a nival regime - during the summer, their discharge is minimal, or they completely dry out. Depths of these canyons are up to 500 m. Rivers that directly feed into the Adriatic sea are of torrential character. They have pluvial regime, and dry out during the summer. Their canyons are short, several hundreds of meters deep. Deepest and longest canyons have been formed by incision of rivers that have changed their regimes during a longer period of time. Melt-water of Pleistocene glaciers has incised the greatest parts of canyons at the beginning of Holocene. Presently, river courses have nival-pluvial regime. In this group, single-phase and multiple-phase canyons can be distinguished (alteration of erosional and accumulation processes). Depths of these canyons exceed 1000 m.

Supplement to solving the issue of determination of moraines and alluvial fans

AB - Because of the similar appearance of certain alluvial fans and glacial landforms, during the reconstruction of accumulative landforms of the glacial process, some errors may occur regarding the determination of the genetic type, leading to the inaccurate conclusions about the size of glaciations. The key for genetic determination of landforms is their altitude. Landforms of the same genetic type (alluvial fans) depending on their altitude, can be determined and classified into different genetic categories - fluvial and glacial ones. This article researches morphological similarity and genesis of the alluvial fan in Dabarsko polje at the altitude of 500 m, as well as the series of stadial moraines at the Durmitor Mountain, at the altitude of 1800 m.

AB - The objects of geoheritage in Serbia represent the overall national geodiversity. Through the short history of the geosite conservation, these sites were given different names, mostly as school examples. The conservation activities expanded since the mid-20th century, but modern methods of the geosite designation and assessment have been applied only from the nineties on the basis of the Pro-GEO principles. In result, an inventory of the geosites of Serbia was made that lists 650 sites, and equalizes the status of geodiversity with that of biodiversity in many social fields.
