Influence of the construction of hydroelectric plant „Djerdap I“ on the socialgeographic changes in the settlements of the municipality Majdanpek

Abstract

The construction of hydroelectric plant „Djerdap I“ is one of the greatest construction project in the 20th century in SFR Yugoslavia. It changed lives of many people who are living in that area. Although the hydroelectric plant is placed in the municipality of Kladovo, it’s construction most affected settlements in municipality Majdanpek. The most important change is increase of employment, changing location of some settlements and flooding of agricultural land. The aim of this work is to describe these changes and to estimate them, are they positive for population or not.
